Want to make a train go to a higher speed limit

Does anyone know how to make train go higher than its designated speed? For example, I drive a EMU that can only go 78 mph at its highest but I want to make it be able to drive at 80 or 90 mph.

The only way of doing that (which is risky if you don't know what you are doing) is by editing the locomotive's enginespec.

That's good advice there Cascade. One thing I will add though is that both the locomotive and the enginespec will need to be cloned and the cloned locomotive updated accordingly.

That depends on whether you use DCC or Cabin mode. It's all in the config.txt file, and I believe the entry is maxspeed (watch out, it's in metres per second).

I drive in DCC mode and all of engine spec's I have to double the max speed otherwise my passenger trains crawl along at 30-40 when they should be doing 70mph

Where is the config file located?

Not sure where this config file is? Do you run TS12, or is it in documents section?

Start the trainz launcher, click on content to open content manager, use the search function to find the asset in question, right click on the asset, hover over 'edit' and click on 'edit in explorer' and then find the config.txt
