"Waiting for Track Clearance"?

Why would I get a "Waiting for Track Clearance" notification when the track is clear?

Okay...more details...yes, this is related to the airport scenario I've posted on here about before. I gave up on the pre-made "International Airport" and am building my own using "Terminal A" and laying taxiway tracks in a simpler pattern than I needed with the other one. I can get the pushback tractor to push the plane to the assigned trackmark. It follows the command to get back to the return trackmark by the gate. But then it sits there - close enough that it will clear the incoming aircraft later - but stop and give me the "Waiting" notification. The next command is to change the driver to the airplane, but it just sits there. It is a deadend track and I have an invisible signal at the very end, but it won't budge.

I never did get a completely straight answer to this question before, so any help would be appreciated. While I'm at it, does the direction the trackmark arrow is pointing change anything? Two people had posted that they didn't think it made any difference to anything...so why make it an arrow? Can anyone clarify that?

Many thanks for the help I've already received on here. These are just some "unresolved" issues that keep tripping me up!

Hi, first of all I don,t think it matters which way the red trackmark points either. I do have mine facing the direction of travel though as I think it makes good practice. It can make it easier if you have a number of trackmarks in the same area to distinguish them from one another. Now back to your problem. You said your tractor goes to the trackmark. Does that command clear from your bar and the next command move to the extreme left? IF so that would indicate that the driver is unable to transfer to the aircraft for some reason, I assume from what was previosly posted there is not already a pilot on the aircraft?. "Waiting for track clearance " means that a driver is waiting for the AI Signaller to set the route to the next destination. There are several possibilities if the AI doesn,t set the route. In your case I need an answer to my questions to narrow it down. But if you want to know how to get the tractor closer to where the trackmark is now that is doable.

Hi Colourlight. No, the command to move to the trackmark does not disappear from the bar. It doesn't get to the change train command, so the driver is still in the tractor. It's as if it gets close to the trackmark, stops just short and then gives me the notification. There is only one driver in my list right now, so there isn't anyone in the plane yet. Thanks!

Hi Curmudgeon

One thing I found was that the "train" won't go right up to a signal. This applies to Track Ends, since these are really permanently red signals. Have you tried moving the invisible signal further up? If the pushback approaches the signal, but stops short of the trackmark, you will see "waiting clearance" because (in a normal train type way) the driver is waiting for the signal to go green.

Don't know if this will help, but it caught me out once!

Cheers

Hi, it sounds as though you may need to extend your spur. You can do this with the invisable track which lays as a red strip. Decide where you would like your push back trolley to stop. Place the red track marker about one and a half locomotive lengths beyond that. Now place the invisable signal about 2 locomotive lengths beyond the red tracker to err on the safe side Run your session and adjust the track marker if necessary. It can also be beneficial to place a 2nd invisable signal at the very end of your spur which includes any nvisable track you have laid.

Solved...Kinda

I did some experimenting and by moving the tractor's trackmark further back (actually on an invisible track that's inside the building!), it stops and the driver transfers to the plane. The plane now stops short at the gate and gives the "waiting for track clearance" notification but I think if I reposition the track marks, it may solve it.

@ Carl: I appreciate the offers of assistance but I fixed the first problem in the meantime. I may still take you up on it if the problem with the plane doesn't resolve. But I do appreciate the offer!!

If I get this working, I will have to put up some pics or video.
