I probably end up getting a lot of moaners again after posting this, but I dont think it is a good idea to add your votes to the initial post (especially with things like the "sweet shot" comment), as it might lead people in their thoughts or get people confused.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the comment. I added my votes to the OP several times early on in my time as manager of the contest (though eventually, and currently, I rarely voted), and I'm not the only manager who's placed votes, and never has anyone complained about this that I know of.

The idea that posting positive comments about submissions is a bad idea because it may sway people to vote for those submissions, brought up by Zorronov in the somewhat recent past, is an interesting thought. On the one hand, the reasoning behind the idea could indeed be correct (has anyone actually observed this phenomenon?), but on the other hand it's a shame to not be able to post comments on submissions as is done in other, non-competition screenshot threads.

As a matter of fact, one could argue that the voting system that Screenshot of the Week has used for a long time, perhaps since the beginning, where voters publicly post their votes in a thread, is also an issue in this respect, as there may be the possibility that people may be swayed to vote for certain submissions just because others voted for said submissions. So maybe, in that case, voting for the contest should change to votes being submitted privately, perhaps in PMs unless means for privately submitting votes elsewhere can be set up.

er, was there a winner from this week's screenshot of the week?

Paul

Good point. We're only two days away from from the end date of the most recent one.

Maybe Zachary has inadvertently overlooked it. He's been around. He was logged on the Forum yesterday evening.

I'm not sure what you are referring to, as this thread and the current submission thread still have a bit over a day left.

I will likely however start a new submission thread in a few hours (the current one will still stay open until its listed closting date and time) to get the contest back to starting at the beginning of Sunday (in UTC time).
