VISTA and TRAINZ 2004

Just got a dell Vostro laptop AMD with VISTA. Loaded Trainz 2004 and sp4.
Trainz opens to main menu but either crashes when I try to run a pre-programmed driver scenario or at Railyard won't let me go from loco to loco and screen is cut off so "slider bar" is not showing. MY XP laptop crashed and is under repair and TRAINZ 2004 ran fine. What can I do?

TRS04 runs fine on my Vista x64 system, and my laptop (when I had Vista on it). The only thing I can think of is that the drivers may need upgrading. Some laptop manufacturers use custom drivers, which can, sometimes, cause problems. Start with the drivers for the CPU and the video chip.
