Video Driver Update?

Hello Community,

This is not directly Trainz related but it could effect in the future if not cared for I think. (Might already be happening!)

I play a lot of war games as for the past week when ever I play the screen after a little while starts to flicker and the computer makes some funny sounds like starting and stopping quickly. Sounds like a fan starting and stopping really.

I'm thinking my video driver needs an update but not sure. Could it be something else is all I'm wondering.:o

Trainz has been slow since the flickering in my war games started. In areas I should get good FPS it drops to nearly nothing when a train goes by. Kind of a pain really.

Any thoughts on the situation? :o
Thanks for any help in advanced.

Cheers,
Adam

Seems like a temperature related problem to me.

I agree. Make sure that the graphics card fan is clean and unobstructed, if it needs cleaning then used compressed air and/or a bristle brush. If this dosen't help, then look into extra case cooling methods.

Ok thanks for the feedback. Will look into the heating problem.

I'm using an ATI Radeon X1950 CrossFire Edition graphic card.
If that helps. Not sure if it has a fan or not though.

Cheers,
Adam

The X1950 CrossFire Edition has a built in fan. Could you please post up specs like amount of RAM, motherboard brand and type, operating system, power supply wattage (and how many rails it has).

Your issue could be much more than just a simple cooling problem.

Also, what kind of case do you have, with how many air vents/fans/space for fans? It's worth persuing the easiest issues first...
