IF YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP ME THIS WOULD BE GREAT THANK YOU ALL:confused:      :)

Hello cvkiwi,

Before I give you the info you require, I want to just state a few points.
First, caps here is considered shouting and very rude. It just is not right, please refrain from that kind of typing.

Now on to the answer:

HOG Utility: Program used to create colored lines in a route to represent roads, rail lines, rivers, and more.

TIGER: These are the lines created.

Just look up HOG, TIGER or DEM, on the forums to get more information.

Cheers,
Adam

Actually the forum search engine won't recognise a three-letter search parameter, so you can't search HOG or DEM, which is why there are so many repetitive posts on this issue.

cvkiwi you can find all you need to know about HOG, DEM, Tiger and everything else in Wewain's excellent tutorial here.

Andy :)

PS You can search the forum for three-letter parameters, but you have to use Google.....

TIGER data is not available for New Zealand, I'm afraid. The HOG approach will be difficult to follow for any route project outside the US.

If you are planning a New Zealand route, you may want to consider TransDEM. It is payware, but it supports a variety of DEM and map data sources, and the coordinate systems for New Zealand. See here for more info: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=19532

Hi
As GP has stated in the previous post, I think Transdem would solve your current situation.
Although its payware, the low price makes it extremely good value.
Just spend some time reading the documentation, try a few test routes, and away you go.
With a few easy tweaks, you can even use Transdem in an existing proto' route.

And Please: Don't shout!

Cheers
Pete.
