Using Trainzmap for TC routes

DeRiCo

Due to wanting a printed map of a route I am working on in TC, and not being able to access them with Trainzmap yet, I decided to try something out.

I succeeded in transfering a TC route to 2006 and using Trainzmap to print it out.

METHOD:
I first opened the route & Scenario in TC for edit.

Then copied them into a different folder, and then re-committed the files in TC.

Next I edited the config and changed the version number from 1.7 to 1.6.

Loaded 2006 CMP and imported them into 2006.

Checked the dependencies and found 2 built-in items from TC.
I deleted those kuid numbers from the config.

Downloaded other missing items from the DLS.
Then committed the files into 2006.

Ran 2006 and selected the route and opened Trainzmap for printing the route.

RESULTS:
The route showed ok but no trains were showing.
So I now have the route in both versions for use after I replace the trains in 2006.

This may help others who want to print route maps for TC routes as Trainzmap cannot access TC yet.

TrainzMap checks for TRS2006.exe in the main directory to accept to look at the directory. We had allready the same problem with the french Trainz 2007 version.

The trick to bypass the check. Under windows explorer you make a copy of the file TC.EXE and you rename it TRS2006.EXE so you have in your TC directory both TC.EXE for Trainz execution and a copy named TRS2006.EXE for TrainzMap checking. Your TrainzMap should now work directly on TC directory.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much pguy.

Tried it and it worked ok.

Much better than my method.
Although I did find a way of getting TC routes to work in 2006.
