Using payware in your own routes

Let's say I would buy a route and install it in Trainz. But what happens if I built my own route and want to publish it as freeware? How do I know with the assets I find through surveyor are the ones from the payware route? Obviousley, I would like to prevent using those assets. :hehe:

A question on the side: if you buy payware, does it always come with all assets needed to run it?

Most of the content on most payware routes is freeware. If however you have payware content then if you use it on a route then folks are going to have to buy it to use your route. As to filtering out your payware from any freeware route you might create - if payware content doesn't leap off the screen and yell "Hey - I'm so good you must have paid for me!" it was hardly worth it, was it?

Like all routes, payware routes will still require you to download content....

It's not prohibited to use payware assets in a freeware route, as the content is not automatically uploaded when you upload a route. It does mean that any downloaders would have to buy the payware content, so it's best to included a warning in the description.

As Dermmy says, most payware routes use mostly freeware content, either included in the package or from the DLS. There are one or two exceptions to this, most notably Modula City, which includes virtually all of the content for the route. All of the scenery items in Modula city are pre-fixed 'CAB' so you can identify them easily.

You can see examples on DLS, there are a few freeware routes that mention in the description using sirgibby's payware items like the Maine Central routes.
