I am experimenting with using a pair of portals to generate a train to run from one end of the route to the other. I am working in TS2010 EE. I used the portal short. I saved a consist in it set to drive to the two passenger stations, wait there for a few seconds, then head to the next one. From there it's set to drive to the other portal.
When the time comes for the train to be generated, it shows up, facing the wrong way and heads off the route and derails. Does the train leave from the "portal exit" side? Or does it leave through the "portal entry" side.
Do those terms mean the train makes its "entry" to the route from this portal, or does it leave the portal through the "exit" leaving the portal for the route? Can you see why I am confused?
