Using #8 FT Turnouts, and FT track for making problematic yards.

I am experimenting with FT track, and using tight FT #8 turnouts as a guide to laying complex yard throats ... screenshots will follow.

PM's are always welcome !

On a DEM ... Forget all about using FT track.

Also this FT track and animated #8 Turnouts is a complete FAIL, idea ... it just doesn't work out !

Just like Atlas "Snap Track" on a model railroad does not conform ... and requires custom cut segments of flex track.

I will post a screenshot ... but "Bag This Whole Idea" of using FT Track

Sometimes usefull is the: track alignment tool 50 tracks 5m <KUID2:222633:485050:1> by arjen-0

I mean that you can use the animated ones on flat baseboards, and they work very well ... but it is easier to create your own track turnouts in an hour ... where as FT track can take you 5 hours, and you get a warped unstraight yard.

I love the animated trurnouts, but they are hard to lay. And their blinding red arrows are much confusing (something that could easily be taken out by editing the FT track files).

I did use them as a tracklaying template in one of my more problematic yards, and replaced the FT track with single track on the finished route.

I find that the fixed track are great as templates. Lay the fixed track in small sections then replace single sections with regular track as you go along. I used Mike10's double turnout on an early layout I did to get a good turnout and crossover by putting it where I wanted it, attaching my track how I wanted it, then deleting it and attaching new track to the existing track.

Does anyone actually use FT Animated Turnouts on their routes ?

Since they are all spread out all over the DLS, under odd names ... I am compiling a list of them, so that others can find them.

FFR by Gawpo50 (There are various other by the same creator)
Turnout Number 8R Lever Right by Spock2004 (There are various other by the same creator)
Stub Left Short Frame left by Elvenor (There are various other by the same creator)
Points Left Short Frame left by Elvenor (There are various other by the same creator)
MAN NG Stub Turnout Right by Elvenor (There are various other by the same creator)
Turnout Stub 8R by Pencil42 (There are various other by the same creator)

Please list all the animated turnouts that you find on your Game ... some are built in to various Trainz versions ... and may not be actually on the Black Pages DLS: http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php

I use Andi06's turnouts as a template for my turnouts. I mostly use the 10 degrees version and if I want a smoother/longer turnout I entend it with the 5.28 extension, that means that the turn starts at the beginning of the 5.28 section (that must be connect to an other section or already layed track) . I use the 3.xx length for the diamond crossings to extend it. I use those sections because the sleepers are posioned exactly above eachother when using some track that is created by Samplaire.
What I do is:
Add 5.28 section to all endings of the turount, then use the coloured points to lay the track in the turnout, then remove Andi's turnout and move the loose end of your track to the 5.28 extensions. After that you can replace them aswell with your normal track. Sometimes a specific order is necessary to create smooth sections. Especially if there are more turnouts connected with each other.
