Use Tutorial as "Route"??

Is there any way to save/open/use the tutorial in 2010 as a "route"? I would like to start with the "Springfield Industrial District" and expand some of the track using Surveyor. Can this be done?

The safest way to use any route that you have downloaded or that is built-in is to either clone it first in CM or when in Edit Route to use save as to create a new route.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, your advice does not seem applicable to my conundrum. I would save/create it as a "new route" if I could - but TS2010 does not seem to allow that option. The only thing it will let me do is save it as a "session" - which, of course, will not allow me to open it as a "route" and edit that route in Surveyor. If you yourself have previously saved the tutorial "Springfield Industrial District" (SID) or a similar Trainz tutorial as a ROUTE, can you briefly describe how it is done? My version of TS2010 does not seem to allow saving the tutorial trackage, scenery, etc., from the SID tutorial to a "route" that I can edit in Surveyor. Thanks again for your help -

Some of the tutorials are available in the Routes screen, and new sessions can be created by clicking the route in question, then clicking Sessions, then Create Session.

You're going in the wrong door. Get out of the tutorials menu back to the main menu, select the Routes menu, select Springfield Industrial District. Click the Edit Route button. In surveyor, Main Menu, Save As, type a different name in the "Save New Route and Session" window.

ALAS - "Springfield Industrial District" does not appear in the "Routes" menu. Otherwise, I understand precisely what you have said - it's just that I can;t find SID anywhere except in the tutorial?

What's on by default in TS2010 is somebody else's "favorites", since my Mommy told me never to accept favorites from strangers I turn that off so I can see all the routes. Also in surveyor to get all the built in content instead of just this mysterious stranger's favorites;

Uncheck the box for that.

You, Sir, are a Wizard of the first order. Thank you for your patience and for pointing out stuff that, left to my own devices, I would NEVER have stumbled upon. I can handle it from here !! Thank you again !!
