Updates

After hours of patience and fiddling I have 2010 installed with a 45467 build. I can see why so many people throw in the towel. It is not the easiest of games to install but well worth the effort in the end. However I am still learning and would be gateful if anyone out there can enlighten me on updates. When you launch 2010 the menu comes up with updates. Could anybody tell me if these updates are just general to Trainz or are they specific ones to the kuids in your local folder? Also if you update a kuid does it automatically replace the obsolete kuid if you delete or disable the obsolete kuid or do you have to replace them manually on each route? If anyone has an answer I would be most grateful.

Firstly, I didn't think there was a build 45467 - the highest I'm aware of is 44088.

Secondly, there are two types of updates - program updates (otherwise known as patches) and Content Updates (these are updates to the built-in content, which according to various posts, you click Content Updates in-game to access these - they should obsolete the previous versions.

44088 to 45467 is the "BETA multilayer patch" for TS2010; http://download.ts2009.com/patch/44088_to_45467.exe (about 70 megs) http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Trainz_Multiplayer

If you are not interested in being part of the "multilayer beta testing" only patch to 44088. If you patch to 45467 you will loose "COMPATIBILITY MODE" in TS2010.

Cheers, Mac...

Be aware through if you install the multi player patch you will not be able to run some of your older trainz in the game unless they are updated to TS2010

however multi player is a great idea and will work well.

When I bought trainz 2010 just recently I was worried how it was going to run:confused: . I was shocked how much much smoother it ran compaired to trainz 2009 and I mean you see my specs its on a very old computer and it runs better than any version I have had so far. Everybody says the speed trees cause major slow frame rate so far I have had quite a lot of them in the routes and the frame rates are around 50-70 my Dell still kicking:hehe:. I don't even use compatibility mode plus my frame rates are a ton better with out it so I think sense the download station is fixing all the problems no need for it

That's what some of us have been trying to get through to the diehards for months & months... :hehe: - It's always great to read good "positive" comments, (rather than some of the slagging that sometimes occurs in the forum)...

Cheers, Mac...
