UP 844 outside Kansas City

Thanks. Yeah there's just something about hearing that whistle powered by steam that gets you adrenalin pumping. That's the first time I've seen UP 1982 in person. I'm also a huge MoPac fan so it was quite a treat.

wow, and i thought i was lucky for stumbling upon her at Union Station! Got to climb up on the pilot for a photo (wish i had it here, DRAT!)

anyway, when you saw it in Atchison (I noticed the other vid) you were right by the museum that has 811 right?

Yes sir. I had to go back and check that out after chasing down UP 844. Not a bad little museum.

that was the first steam engine i ever came to know...it's the "811" in my username. I've climbed all over that old girl in my life, heck, when i was 2 i named it "Stephney." Great engine, and if you go up into the cab, all the parts (save for the reverser) are oiled and move.

One i ate in the endcar of the bluecomet in nj.:D did not know it until i read the little name plate on the entrance to the resaurant.:hehe:
