unloading containers

NYCboy

gettin bored of trainz
how do i unload containers.i was creating my own seasion when i clicked "unload" it did not unload containers.how do i unload containers?:o

Hi NYCboy,

You have to be at an industry that will accept containers, and the industry has to be configured to accept them.

i did that but it just adds it to the freight cars.how do i unload them from the freight cars?(i know what industrey accepts containers)

Hi NYCboy,

If you are running AI tell your driver to drive to industry xx, then unload. If you are cab driving just drive to the industry and stop with the first wagon on the unload area, then when it unloads move the next one up to the uload area, and continue till they are all unloaded. When cab driving unload commands are not required.

Hi NYCboy,

What industry are you using? How do you expect anyone to tell you that when you don't give details?

Bill69

from my memory the unloading zone has a sign next to it saying something like "unloading zone"

Hi Nycboy,

That still does not tell me much. If it is the built in container station it does not unload containers. It unloads general goods and loads 20ft and 40ft containers. Can you give me a kuid number?

Cheers,
Bill69

That's right, the standard built-in container stations can only load containers, not unload them. That may seem silly but it's the way they were programmed.

The only standard built-in industries which can unload containers are the seaport (at the dock nearest the ship) and the airport. Oh, and possibly Multi-Industry when it's been configured.

Some non-standard industries that you download and install might also be able to unload containers, you'd need to check.

There's a very useful flowchart in the Trainz manual which shows the possible flows of products between the built-in industries, and what each of them consume and produce.

From memory, the Airport does not unload Containers, it unloads Diesel, Aviation Fuel and General Goods, it also loads/unloads Passengers.

The Seaport is the only industry that unloads Containers, you can configure the M.I.N (Multiple Industry New) and M.I.B (Multiple Industry Basic) to unload Containers as well.

Hi NYCboy,

The multiple industry basic will unload containers when configured. You can place a building over the track or place warehouse/s next to the track. When in surveyor place a post or a crate or something at each end of the industry track so you will know where it is in driver.

The grey building on the right is "building rolling mill" built-in and the building on the left is "shed large" also built-in. Either of these should do for recieving containers.

Your're correct, apologies. The flowchart in the TRS2004 manual says the airport can unload containers and not general goods. The flowchart is wrong.

John

Perhaps the container station works in the same way as consumer-producer industries instead of a "store room" format. Like the pulp mill accepts woodchips and churns out general goods, the container station treats general goods as the "in" product and 20/40 foot containers as the "out" product.

That is correct, the Container Station accepts General Goods as the "in" product and in return produces 20ft and 40ft Containers as the "out" product(s).

Actually that is right too, flowchart is wrong, never noticed this before myself but yeah, the flowchart shows that Containers will go to the Airport.

That's for TRS2004, if you have a good look you will notice that it is wrong in another place too... ;)
