How do u build stations underground, in a tunnel. Ive tried everything i can think of but i just cant do it. Can someone please tell me how to build them please. If i need to download anything can u help me with that as well please.

Much appreciatied

Jon

there is three ways to do this.

1st: use a station that allows height adjustment and lower it under ground.
2nd: Dig a whole; place the station in it; then cover the station with one of the available ground cover splines.
3rd: open the station you want up for edit. change the config file to allow height change. Then do #1. NOTE: this method should not be used for routes you plan to release. as the station will go back up to the surface on everyone else computer.

Actually, it doesn't go back up, it just won't be adjustable on everyone else's computer. I've released 2 routes in which I've done this (mostly with road junctions). As far as I know, it shouldn't be any different with industries/stations.

Also the AJS station kit includes parts for sub-surface stations (and is height adjustable). Compudoc has also made a good number of underground stations.

If it's London Underground you're after, search for Spanner and Makatini on the DLS.

What are the KUIDs for the ground cover splines?

This is my problem with the NYCTA tunnel spline.

As you can see by the red arrow, the tunnel is far too short height-wise to accomodate the Amtrak Superliner, much less the catenary system. This is why I'm looking for a 7 meter tall (or as high as possible to accomodate that catenary system in the picture) height tunnel spline, plus a similiar height empty tunnel space to insert a station inside (empty space tunnel needs to be like 8 tracks wide or something).

There has to be something other than NYCTA tunnels I can use as a wide open space to place a station in.

You need to use BB code here instead of HTML. to show an image use must use the

There are two generic underground stations on the DLS that may be tall enough.

Wow, that looks SO awesome, Alberto!

Here's what I need:

1. Tunnel portal wide enough for 4 tracks. US 5m spacing and UK 4m spacing needed.

2. A tunnel with 4 tracks that hooks up to the portal and has the tunnel widen to accomodate interior stations. Two Island stations like this (crude ASCII drawing)

|-||-|

or...

-||-||-

| = single track
- = station

3. The tunnel has to be high enough to accomodate a catenary system plus these tall Amtrak Superliners or double stacked container cars.

4. The tunnel needs to be pretty long, since I'm going to be using 12 - 16 car Amtrak Clockers.

Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClLaRSB0sDY

That Clocker has a 13 car consist, which is about 400m long I believe. I'm using AEM-7's instead of E60MA's since there's no E60MA's I can find for Trainz. So the station section of the tunnel needs to be at least 500m long.

Does any of your already-built tunnels match these criteria? I'm trying to build a 4-track mainline and its a challenge finding 4-track stuff. Some pictures and descriptions are in a foreign language- either German or Spanish, and I can't understand these languages.

Please, note that these are not really tunnels but subterranean facilities. So, first you have to "excavate" your virtual world;)

1. Please try the 50m ceiling and the matching side and central pillar walls, which you can place wherever you need spanning your wish. Side plank left can be hidden with terrain.

Concrete ceiling 50m. wide,<kuid:86311:1635>
Concrete pillar wall 50m. high,<kuid:86311:1642>
Concrete wall 50m. high,<kuid:86311:1641>

2. Stations islands can be solved by existing interactive platform stations. This system allows you to lay the track you like and the ground texture you need. And also to widen or narrow the tunnel where you need. Just move the splines.

3. Length is irrelevant since they are splines and you can lengthen them from the States to Vigo, if you like. ;):hehe: As for height and catenary, you can choose the elevation by selecting height spline in Surveyor. Maximum height: 50 m. High enough, I think ;)

Test it first and tell me about.

Note for users in layouts: All this stuff is awaiting approval to be let into the DS. So eventually it will be available there, and already available at IBerTrainZ and TPR Download Depot sites.

Note for underground/subway tunnel seekers: Try our IBTZ staff mate, Edetrainz's system --> http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showpost.php?p=234580&postcount=229

I must repeat myself... it does look sexy! Its pretty much what I want design-wise. I'll give them a try once I can download them from the DLS. Thanks again for uploading these tunnel stuff, Alberto.

Having finally had time to download and check out the tunnel stuff, I like it quite a bit, especially with the lights and all.

However, I still need a 4-track version of a tunnel portal, along with a 4-track version of the tunnel itself.

In addition, I was wondering how I could extend the station length to about 400 meters long instead of it being only 100'ish meters long?

These are pretty much the last things I need tunnel-wise for my route layout.

Another way of having stations underground is by laying the platforms and lowering them by the hight you want (lets call this: A) Then Place the track and lower them by the hight of A then Use AJS subsurface walls/ collums which come with a roof and lower them by A

This means you can have as many platforms as you want and the platforms as long as you want.

Hope this helps,

Phil
