Unable to register Trainz URL registry key...?

Yep. Thats what it says every time I try to download anything for Trainz. RRmods, DLS, Jointed Rail, etc. I just got a really nice gaming computer. It has Vista for now. I also have been working far from home so I bought a new TRS2006 DVD. I registered my new serial number. Can anyone help?

And now even if I try to just run Trainz with the built in stuff, when I hit map, everything goes black and the game shuts down.

this is the result of using the program without admin rights. also i would disable user account control, that is, if you are an experienced computer user.

Thanks, NS37. I'm afraid I don't know how to do that in Vista as this is my first experience with this turd of a program. I can't even find spell check! Any ways, I solved the map thing, so if anyone else can help with this registry thing I would be very grateful.

Ok, disregard everything. I got it working... I think. I downloaded a hopper from RRmods and it appeared with no error. Thanks, Justin. It took a few tries to figure out how to turn off the user control thingy. Now if someone could tell me where the crap my spellcheck is in Vista I just might survive.

In don't recommend turning off ACL on your computer. This is in place for a reason since it blocks Trojan horses and other malware from installing its self without explicti permission.

To enable Administrator rights for a program, right mouse-button click on the short-cut icon (usually located on your desktop or start-menu), and choose run as Administrator. If this works, then you can make this permenant by choosing the properties tab during the right-mouse button click, go to the compatability tab and choose Run as Adminstrator.

Hope this helps.

I may have to turn it on and off at times. It was what fixed my download problem. Thanks for the advise.

I'm sure it is my fault. I still hate it because I can't do what I want to do. How do you turn off user account control?

er sorry mate but
click the little thing downs on the left it sort of looks like a 4 coloured flag. you might see a thing then called help. click on it type in turn off user account control. Follow instructions. restart.
that should help you find it next time just remember to look in help
As for you spell checker... go down to the shop and buy office 2007.... that is MS's answer for you.
And boy if you thought vista is trouble just wait until you find word 2007 and start using that
or go bing and ask there you will find that on the internet under bing.com. Also a virus scanner might be good now you have no user account control....

Thanks, Win. This 'puter is well protected, I just have to turn the right stuff off for Trainz DL's just like anyone. It's working great and I have run super long trains with high poly stuff and all of the performace settings maxed out. Smoooooooth. I have the most recent office program as far as I know, but my old spellcheck was in my tool bar and always visible when I was online.
