These are OUTSTANDING George!

Any chance you make a Southern Green Variant as well? ;) They'd surely come in handy on my projects!
Hope this is okay Tanker. Drop me a message and I will email it or will upload to DLS soon.

Oh my goodness!! So fast!!

This is PERFECT George! I can't tell you how many places this little shelter is going to come in handy! Wivelsfield, Balcombe, Elephant and Castle, Herne Hill, and the list goes on and on!

You can upload it to the DLS if you like and I will send you a PM containing my email address. I can't thank you enough for this!!

Really nice modeling work, George! These are some really good models, congrats on making them! And very beautiful shots, everyone! I love seeing how you've changed up the SnC Alex, it really is for the better

Much Appreciated Andrew!

I haven't done half as much to make S&C look newer as you have. I just swapped the older track assets for one of Nexusdj's excellent track selections and supplanted the older environment textures with a mix from both Euromodeller's and Clam1952's outstanding ground textures. (God rest their souls..) The rest is just me running TRS19 on moderate performance instead of bare bones settings.

I've been thinking about overhauling the route as a whole but I am more interested in the idea of doing a Pre-Grouping S&C instead. The idea of running Midland, LNWR and NER Content has become something of an interest for me and if I ever get around to it that's probably what I will do. For now, it's just a fun little thing for some leisure running when I get burned out on route building, nothing more and nothing less.

The SR Project is first and foremost for me though. London Charing Cross isn't going to build itself after all!

I very much like the sound of a pre-grouping S&C overhaul :D

I know I am posting an awful lot lately so for that I apologise. However I am making good progress on Ashby.

Today progress has been made on Ashby's third platform, connected to the main station via a footpath running down the back of the yard.

This platform served as the southern terminus for the Melbourne Line (Ashby - Derby branch).

Kotangagirl's repainted 1F prepares for the return journey to Derby.

To the right can be seen the ornate stables building, built in the 1840s, used for the yard shunting horses and also for stabling horses to be loaded onto horse wagons or after arrival waiting for delivery to new buyers.
The stables were used up until 1940 (for almost 100 years).

#6527. What are you apologising for George? Everything you've been posting has been great. Seeing your progress at Ashby has been wonderful to watch as a once lost Midland railway station comes back to life.
Nice to see one my Midland 1F's in use on a layout that's not my own too. (That Duchess screenshot of yours is pretty darn corker by the way).

Good to see your revival of the classic S&C route as well Tanker.

#6529 I think you might win that race! :D

Excellent shots all.

A rare visitor into Ashby. LNWR 2-4-2 pulls into Platform 1 with a train from Nuneaton that has journeyed along the Ashby & Nuneaton Joint Railway. (Battlefield Line).

Mid morning Burton bound service accelerates away down the 1:155 grade to Moira.

Coalville loco 3130 sits in the yard after the morning shunting for Ashby Gasworks, Holywell Mill and Soap Works.

Later that day 3130 takes the Burton bound goods.

Guess what... more pictures from me. I find it hard to believe you aren't bored of Ashby yet.. :D

Believe it or not these are all on 1 baseboard. But I've been really focusing on the details and have spent 5 hours or so getting this area right.

The shots are of the large cattle market yard, Thornley's Coal yard, Tamworth Road Crossing, Kilwardby Street level crossing and the Derby Platform.

I'm really enjoying how Ashby's coming along! Not sure if you've ever said this, but where and when is the route based on?

And honestly I'm not sure exactly how anyone can be sick of this route, it's coming along really nicely and I love your attention to detail!

Hi SRKing783! I'm building the Midland Railway route from Leicester - Burton, running through the coal and clay rich counties of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Ashby is pretty much in the middle of the route and is a junction for the Melbourne branch to Derby too. I'm modeling it on the 1880-1930s period. I know it's a pretty big time gap but I it covered the busiest era of the MR and LMS.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! Ashby is my home town and where I was born so I'm quite passionate about the area and it's railway history.

MR timber station building for any pre-grouping fans... Based off real photos. Seems like quite a widely used design.

Everything is looking outstanding George! I've been gradually gaining interest in the Midland Railway and the other Pre-Grouping Companies of the LMS through my own independent research and my work on projects with my good friend Barney. (Particulary the L&Y, LNWR and especially the NSR.) As I was delving into research on the MR, I found a few different resources that I think you might like.

I'm not sure if you have already tapped into this website yet, but I get a lot of my diagrams and photography on the Midland via the Midland Study Center. They have diagrams on Locomotives, Coaches, Wagons, Buildings, Signals and much much more!

This website is run by my good friend Connor. His friend Ricardio has made some excellent Freeware Midland Railway locomotives for your route. Some of the classes that have been covered are the MR Class 2, MR Class 28, MR Class 116, MR Class 1400, MR Class 1252, MR Class 2501 and the MR Class 3F. I use many of them on my Pre-Grouping S&C Route along with Annie's fantastic Midland Half Cab model and Edh6's Midland Compound Design.

I hope this fantastic route one day finds it's way to the DLS. Running Trains through Pre-Grouping Stoke on Trent is something I would definitely enjoy!
