Tunnels and Smoke

I've been trying to create a realistic tunnel using the AJS kit and I thought I had managed to achieve some good results by running my track over the tunnel spline at a slightly higher level so that the tunnel track is covered by my track. This looks absolutely fabulous.

However, when I run a steam train through the tunnel, I find the smoke goes up through the roof and appears out of the ground above!

I suspect this is because Trainz doesn't realise the track is going through a tunnel. Does anyone know of a cure for this problem? For example, is there some track available that Trainz recognises as a tunnel that I can connect to my track to run over the tunnel spline?

Thanks in advance
Paul

Interesting what you're doing there.. Is it because you don't like the current tunnel track? Although I thought you put your own track in anyhow?

Maybe i'm lost.. but I use the UK stone tunnels which are made in the same way, (included in most recent trainz verisons due to Hawes Junction)

Trainz does not check for collisions, except with 2 trains on the same line, a good example of this is with 2 track crossing at 90 degrees, the trains go through each other!

I have never heard of one, although I suppose it could possibly be done with scripting in some manner. It also rains in tunnels too you may have noticed.

This is what I was hoping may already exist on the DLS somewhere. I really like the AJS kit as it allows the tunnel entrance to be modelled much prototypically but the track doesn't match my own (incidentally, the same problem exists with the track supplied). I'm sure I've read on the forum somewhere that the recommended way around this is to lay your own track over the tunnel spline so that it follows the same route but hides the supplied track. Anyhow, this is what I've done and it looks wonderful if only I could stop the smoke rising out of the ground....
