TS2010, trouble with power and telegraph wires.

I have an nvidia GTX 460 graphics card running in Windows 7, 64 bit. Wires are fine close to, but at any distance become fuzzy and hide passing trains. They seem to be picking up ground textures. I recall this as a problem in TS2009, but did not have it before when running TS2010 on my old computer. It is the same in either native or compatibility mode.

Anyone else had this problem? Advice much appreciated.

Your Trainz problem

Hello man !!

I am also experiancing the same problem.

I think this is a bug which has to be remover by AURAN

TIP: sit in passenger car. now zoom it and see outside, you will not get the problem.

Alternate, save your route with differen name. and change the distance to 5000m
thanks , hope it will resolve ur problem

Have you tried alternative telegraph poles and are you up to SP3? I have not noticed any problems with my own route in native mode, John.

There was a discussion about this issue just a couple of weeks ago, probably over on the 2010 specific forum iirc.

Anyway, the end result was, it's not a bug per se, but more of an artefact of how the rendering has changed. It's really up to the content creators to work around it - a matter of using LOD on the wires to make them less significant at distance from the camera.

the old way of how wires were rendered wasn't right either, and going back to that wouldn't really be a benefit since the new behaviour fixes other things that people complained about how items looked when at distance.

There's no real way to make it 'work as reality does', in terms of making fine details fade out at distance automatically, but then that's why 3D engines have LOD support :)

Have a look at my telephone wires for TS2009 and TS2010, they are 3d modelled (as they should be)

Not perfect but you shouldnt have the effect you are mentioning

Search the DLS for 177548 I uploaded a few a while ago

Report any issues with these here

Thank you for all your replies. I will try your wires, Paul.

Interestingly, John, I did not experience the problem on my old computer which had an nvidia 8800 with 512 mb. Odd that. Yes, I have SP3.

You are right, Andy. I did as you said and the wires are now ok in compatability mode.
