TS2009 only one car in railyard

Sorry for being a little out of date here but I've been away from trainz
for a few years. Anyways I have a copy of ts2009 that I never used. I
thought I'd give it a try again and this is my problem. I've installed it
and everything seems to be ok except that only one car appears in the
railyard. I'm using windows 7 on a laptop. I've rebooted and also tried
reinstalling but still the same. Looking for help. I also did not install
any of the sp's and the build is 38411.

Well I finally got Sp2 & 3 installed. Sp2 was ok manually but sp3 gave me the "this patch file is not applicable to your current installation version" so
I tried Patch Trainz in the options section and that worked. It took quit a few hours but I'm now up to build 41844. I'm a bit leary of trying sp4
because of the many problems that are being reported though. Also Patch Trainz is now ghosted in that section so I would have to do it manually. BUT unless someone can reasure me that it's worth installing I might just stay up to sp3. Also what's with the 480mb size of the download of sp4 compared to the 50 or so mb of sp2 & 3? Does anybody know what's being changed with sp4?
Finally, I still only see one railcar in the railyard and I cannot find were to uncheck the box to show favorites only. I don't see it anywhere in the options section.
 
The size alone should tell you that there is a lot in SP4. IMHO, SP4 is well worth installing. (Up to 44653). If you have an external USB HDD, or plenty of room on a separate partition on an internal HDD, then take a complete copy of TS2009 (SP3) directory. That way if anything goes wrong with the SP4 installation, you can delete TS2009 (SP4) and re-copy back TS2009 (SP3) and you are back to where you started...

I had no problem/s installing the SP4 update.

Ok thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I'll follow your directions and give sp4 a try. Any other idea about the railyard or am I just missing it somehow?
Anyway of showing me a print screen of were this is in options?

Main Menu button at top left, Surveyor Settings, then:

Interesting. Inplace of 'Only display favorite content' I have 'Show performance stats:'. Also, in-between 'Camera behavior' and 'Auto-save interval' you have 'Defaults to last used assets' which I do not have and beside 'Auto-save interval' I have a checkbox on the left of it.
Your 'Global consist library' icon is different than mine also.
This could all have to do with sp4 - I don't know!
I'll install it in the next few days and see what happens I guess.

I've installed sp4 and everything seems ok. It did say there were 2 errors and 0 warnings though. I'm not sure what that means.
Railyard is also working.
The only thing that I'm not sure about is the Content Manager. It keeps flashing every 2 or 3 seconds and is probably because it's searching for content. The status bar at the bottom says it's ready but only wants to display 161k of 174k items. When I click on the 'Current Search' filter it is
searching for 26k items which are probably the same items that the 'Out of date' filter is looking for. It gives the same 26k number of items.
My question is, is it searching for items I don't need? In other words maybe items that are only for TR2010 & 12?
