TS2009 on two computers?

Hi all.
I started using Trainz on our older computer which runs Trainz OK. Then my wife bought a new computer which runs Trainz great!
I am modifying a route on my wife's computer when she is not home. When she is home I need to use the old computer. Is there a way to move the saved modifications to the route from the new computer to the old computer and continue work on the route? Could I save the route as a CDP and copy to a memory stick?
Thanks for any help.

Yes you can, so long as you have all the assets on both, save the dependencies of the route to a cdp as well that way you won't be missing anything. Getting a crossover network cable or if on a router network the PC's and just copying the cdp across is a bit quicker though. ;)

Thanks for helping Malc.
Both computers are running Windows 7 and are networked together. I cannot not get past the shared files in the other computer over the network and I am administrator. Is there a way to access the hard drive on the other computer over the network?

I have the same situation. Was able to "transport" a route, but not a session. If you can do it, please post how you did it. I have been after this for several months already, and the program crashes if I try to open the session.:'(

If I recall, you have to go to the folder you want to share, right click it, go to Properties, then Sharing, then click on Advanced Sharing. A window will pop up and everything will be greyed out. Click on the box at the top saying Share this folder. Then click Apply to start sharing the folder. At least that worked for me. Otherwise, try the HomeGroup sharing program for Windows 7. I haven't tried it yet, but maybe it's easier than what I described.

So, for what you say, if I copy a route and session to a flash memory, and transport it to the other computer, it will not work? I was able to get the route, and it shows in surveyor, also I can make a session out of it. But the session from the 1st computer makes the program crash in the 2nd one. I tried CDP or file transfer. I don't believe that using a network cable and sharing files has anything to do with this problem.

Network cable/file sharing doesn't have anything to do with a session crashing Trainz, it's just an alternative to using a flash drive.

As far as the crashing, I'd say start by making sure the video card/sound card drivers are up to date. Make sure the route and session have all their dependencies. Don't have TS2009 to check, but in TS2010 you can save an archive with all the files needed for the route/session rather then saving a CDP. (It'll be a lot bigger though.) And if it keeps crashing, try posting the error message, maybe someone will recognize it and know how to fix it.

Kyle, Edrick, thank you both. I will try each idea.
llebrez, I will let you know how I get on with the memory stick idea. I will post here. I should be done today.

OK, I am able to open the network on either computer and run the route from the other computer. saintjimmy,s advice was spot on. Thank You!
llebrez, i was able to save the session as a CDP file to a memory stick and load it on the other pc. I could save as an archive but found no way to transfer it to the stick. However, it took forever to load the session as a cdp on the other pc. Why?, I dont know. It crashed the first time, then I remembered I had the video set to directx on one pc and opengl on the other. Once they were both the same it ran fine. I suggest you make sure all your settings are the same on both games. That was the only problem I encountered. Good luck.
