TS 2010EE Video Card Upgrade Question

Last week, I posted a question asking how to improve graphics performance on TS 2010EE, recently installed to my desktop computer.

After reviewing all the input and making some suggested system and program modifications, I have decided to further improve the graphics by upgrading both the video card and the power supply in my desktop.

I am running Build 43434 now. Will I have to uninstall and reinstall TS 2010EE and the patches that got me to Build 43434, after installing an upgraded video card and power supply? Thanks for any input.

Hi,

You will not have to reinstall your trainz.

before you install the new video card, however, use the control panel to remove the driver for the existing card and when prompted to reboot, select not to then manually shutdown the system and replace the video card. When the system reboots, insert the driver disk supplied to initially install the driver. Once the driver is installed, the system should force a restart (my system actually forced two for some reason) and once restarted, select the desired screen resolution.

If the "new" card has been sitting on the sales floor for a while, you may actually want to go to the manufactures web site and get an updated driver before you do the uninstall of the existing card. If you do this, place the updated driver on your desktop for easy access once the new card has been installed and use it for the installation.

Once you have the driver configured to the way you want, start the trainz launcher and adjust the screen resolution and adjust the performance sliders for the initial testing in trainz.

You may have to disable with video compression depending on the card. You will know to do this if some items appear black or "scrambled" in game!

Hope this gets you going,

Bricey

No, only thing that will need to be updated are windows drivers. Note if you go from ATI to Nvdia or the other way you must remove all traces of the old driver.
