TRS2009 Frustration and Cry for Guidance :-)

Hi Folks,

Just bought TRS2009 having discovered 2006 was no longer giving DLS access (fair enough).

Uninstalled 2006 prior to installing 2009 and whilst 2009 itself runs okay, the content manager appears to be thoroughly ill. I can log in ok and *appear* to be downloading items, however symptoms include

*stalling out
*no FCT (or infication of expiry of) image at top of console, neither is there the graph showing download speed
*downloads only execute 1 by 1
* download pane doesnt refresh
* right clicking to view items from download pane either brings up wrong item - or square root of bugger all

Am also suffering the 1.ja file contents do no match error whilst patching from 40040 to 41844 - realise this has been brought up before, however given CMP's odd behavior i'm wondering if it would be wiser to do a clean install - so really looking for pointers to ensure that all of the current 2009 stuff and any redundant 2006 files (that might be buggering it up) are flushed.

Would really apprecaite any guidance as at the moment the 2009 DVD's most constructive use is as a coaster (!)

With many thanks

Firstly, the downloads have always done one at a time - the servers do not support downloading more than 1 at a time via Content Manager (I think that if you use the FTP option, you may be able to download 2 at a time maximum)

As for the 1.ja error, try a extended database repair before re-attempting (option is in File menu)

The FCT/non FCT icon is now in the Settings box in the Internet tab. Also look in the Miscellaneous tab for settings relating to the Download Helper panel.

I think the 'stalling out' problem may be due to it not being the latest patch.

The 'wrong item' issue usually happens to me as well - especially if the details are not entered in CMP correctly (Internet tab in the Settings tab)

Pardon me my choice of words wasn't probably right there. I Meant more that of a queue of items waiting to be downloaded, CMP would only download 1 file - then sit on its hands untill given a nudge to do the next one.

Glitches may all be connected of course - will go do some tweaking as you've suggeted and report back :)

Sorry for delay in getting back to you there:

AMD Athlon II Dual-Core processor (2.0Ghz, rated at 3.5Ghz),ATI Radeon 4200 Graphics,4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Win 7 64-bit 32-bit (was pre-installed)

Thanks again

Are you running in Admin mode? Trainz runs a lot better if run as admin in Windows Vista/7.

If it still fails, make sure 'Automatically commit when installing CDPs' is ticked in the settings, as it may influence it.

aaa if can still d/l stuff if you have a fct... for 06 as for your 09 are you running cmp as admims....

Many thanks - I'll give that a bash.
Just did a reinstall there and the new problem (sigh) is that Trainz now starts, but as soon as you launch into Driver / Surveyor etc it minimises back down onto the task bar, and does so again every time you try to bring it up

Honestly, perhaps one of the most buggy installs ive come accross in a while :-(
