Trainzobjects

You don't. Trainzobjectz is a priceless content management utility, but you don't use it to install content.

With just one Trainz version installed simply double-click a cdp to install the content. TRS04's Content Dispatcher was so easy to use almost all suitable content will be packed to cdp. In the odd instance where you find something for 04 which is not packed simply drag the content folder into C:\My Programs\Auran\TRS04\World\Dispatcher\Downloads. The only 'trick' is when you manually install you must delete the file C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\CACHE\world_cache_Dispatcher.chump. cdp installs will delete the chump automatically...

And, if it still doesn't work or show up, use TO to check if for errors in the config.txt file or for missing dependencies.

Thank You, this all I ask for, Thanks dude.

Why not drop it in the appropriate subfolder of World\Custom instead? That is where you would put stuff like that, and with no extra loading time that I know of either (since it is not cached, as far as I know). ;) No need to delete the world_cache_Dispatcher.chump file then.

I do not see why it would be necessary to delete the .chump file when putting stuff into the World\Dispatcher\download folder, but I would probably drop the stuff into World\Custom anyway, so I may be wrong.

Just as a note, if I have to modify the config.txt files of one or more assets in the World\Dispatcher\downloads folder, I will actually move those assets out of the World\Dispatcher\downloads folder and into the appropriate World\Custom subfolder, just to save deleting the world_cache_Dispatcher.chump file and getting the longer Trainz start-up time afterward. Trainz does not seem to mind. ;)

Really? Seems to me that installing a CDP only modifies the .chump file, rather than deleting it. :o

Just though that I would throw this information out here. :)

Regards.

Hi Retro

TRS04 loads content from the chump files, not direct from the 'world' folder.

Dispatcher is 'chumped' only when required. If it has been deleted and needs to be re-built then you get the long load-time thing.

Using 'Custom' folders avoids deleting dispatcher.chump, but the 'custom' folder is 'chumped' every time TRS04 starts so a larger custom folder leads to slower initialisation every time you start trainz.

You will find it faster in the long run to live with the occasional slow dispatcher chump re-build than a large 'custom' chump rebuild every start-up. My advise to any TRS04 user would be to keep 'Custom' as lean and mean as possible. Heck, I used to move my routes (lots of very large custom routes) out of 'custom' and into 'dispatcher' sub-folders simply because of the significantly faster initialisation that resulted...

Andy :)
