Hi,

Is there any way Auran would consider producing a new version of Trainz without the same routes being included in a new release.
Trainz 2006 routes are found in Trainz 2010 my question is how are we paying for the same routes over and over again.
Also why are the colours unchanged, no life in the scenary, just flat pastal colours.

Mike.

Yes Mike, I think they have considered it and done it.

As others have pointed out TS12 has all new routes, assuming you consider the very much extended ECML as a new route, and no old routes included. You could of course import your favourite routes and sessions from TS2010 / TC3 if you want.

Spend your £16 and download it !

TS12 does have new routes, but that in itself does not make them good. There are several known errors in the built-in routes, sessions, and content in TS12, such as a bridge with incompatible textures that don't load, and missing switch levers on the ECML. The cost of the simulator is more of a reflection of the time and effort put into game engine development and refinement. Which may be why some people thing TS12 is overpriced considering it's not a significant improvement over its predecessor and has a list of new problems in and of itself.

(snip) it's not a significant improvement over its predecessor and has a list of new problems in and of itself.

That's a matter of opinion, not fact, and every new release is going to have it's own set of new problems. It's the OLD problems there is little excuse for. And that's just my opinion.

Unfortunately, my search for the perfect software with no bugs or problems over the last 20 years or so has basically met with not much success. Maybe the next version of ______________ _____________ _________ ( fill in the blanks) will be the one... ;)

Good point! People tend to be more passionate about the programs they enjoy, and therefore do not consider the whole context of programs in general. I find it vexing that so many beg for new features though, when there are so many old problems that continue from release to release. Now, I understand that new features are a "hook" to excite new users, but I would just as soon see the old bug squashed, if possible...and if not; at least an explanation of why not!

Sometimes fixing a bug can introduce more bugs into the program, so it's best to leave them alone. It's how the code is intertwined and how some things are connected. Fixing that one little glitch opens up an avalanche of other problems that the one buggy area was relied upon. It's like pulling a thread on a sweater...

Hi,

Thank you all for your views, I had a look at some videos on "You Tube" and the colours are not that good, a bit washed out.
In the Russian train video there appears to be projected textures being laid just ahead of the loco as the train advances.
I think I will give Ts12 a miss, I have 2010 so will stick with that.
Kind regards
Mike

You see... that would be an explanation.
