I am trying to create a short movie based on Trainz operations and am having quality problems for which suggestions would be welcomed. My initial "takes" are done with Fraps and, from my perspective, there are no problems there. The resulting files are very large, but the quality is high and the two factors are obviously inherently linked!
Because the only video editing software I currently have is Windows Movie Maker, I have to convert the Fraps "takes" to .wmv format and use SmartSoft Video Converter for that stage. Somewhere in the process of either converting, and/or editing, there is an appalling reduction in both video and audio quality.
Finally, trying to save the movie from WMM generally fails with around 58% saved! It would appear as if there is insufficient space somewhere in the saving process and while this is currently not a problem (really not worth saving!) ...... it will be for more worthwhile movies. Is there configuration somewhere that designates a certain capacity for specific programs to work within?
My goal would be to create a 30 min + video that would fit on a 4.7GB DVD which I am assuming gives me 'space' for pretty good quality.
Comments welcomed.
Thx. Colin.
