If your using Skype.... you will soon become a member of the Microsoft family.

MS just bought Skype for $8,500,000,000 U$

Hope you enjoy the new Skype.

Have fun,

I have always had Yahoo Mail and Yahoo IM ... I tried Skype once but thought it redundant and went back to Yahoo IM.

What advantage does it have over Yaioo IM ?

I don't use Skype, but my wife does and as I understand it, she uses it with a microphone and headset to talk real-time with other people when she's playing 'Guild Wars'. So, it appears that it's more than a messaging center. That's about all that I know about it.

That's news to me. I really don't pay attention to those things since I have no need for them. I don't use Yahoo either though.

If a user has a problem with something, and they aim the webcam at their monitor screen, it would help the person trying to figure out what the diaggnosis would be ... and opens up the muti player realm even further ... running Trainz windowed, along with an Instant Messenger service using microphone and webcam.

Skype is basically an internet phone and chat program. Before my wife moved to the UK from the US we used it extensively to talk for free.

Now that Microsoft own it I'll be deleting it forthwith.

Skype is also nice for going cross-platform, as it works on MS, Mac, Linux, & most mobile devices.

I found it most useful when I was travelling Europe. Because it allowed me to have a local (to where I live) phone number that my friends & fam could call me on, a voicemail box, and the ability to call regular phones. For much cheaper then a calling card or Int'l plan on my cell would be. It's also great for calling fiends & fam that are overseas, regardless of they have skype.

I use Skype all the time, and I like to tutor people, on how to lay track ... all you need is a mic of a headset laying on your desk, and talk loudly
