Trainz The Complete Collection?

Please excuse my stupid question but I just purchased The Complete Collection (UTC, TR2004, TR2006). Where can I find a comparison chart of these three? Is UTC (Ultimate Trainz Collection) newer than TR2006? I plan to start becoming familiar with TR2004 first - is that the simplest way? Thank you.

UTC is older than 2004. 2004 is more forgiving of poorly made content than 2006. 2006 uses CMP (which many users dislike). 2004 uses TrainzObjectz (which many users like). 2006 allows AI trains to have headlamps on during the day, (which I like), 2004 does not.

2004 then UTC and lastly 2006. Not 100% sure but I bought them in that order. UTC was a big disappointment after 2004.

Euphod is right.

If you open the folder on the front of the box it will tell you the order in which they where released.

It's UTC, TRS2004, TRS2006. In order of release. TRS2004 was the first 'new generation' Trainz, with a lot of added systems including industry functions, and many other things.

Myself, I would say go with TRS2006 since it is the latest in that collection. Mainly because you will gain access to the most number of assets on the DLS. Especially routes, as many have made their routes using TRS06 (or TRS2006 SP1 in many cases). However, it is a matter of which you are most comfortable with.

Have fun

I would like to thank you all very much.

The only literature in the box is a log book which has serial numbers for TRS2004, etc but there was no info anywhere on release dates. I looked at Auran's sites but couldn't find anything for UTC (I was able to figure out that 2006 was released after 2004!). So, I'm glad this could be clarified for me.

Again, thank you

Yeah I'd certainly go with 2006, if you like to see the splines shooting 15 miles over a route, and the other aberrations that pop up sometimes.
