Trainz Prices Too High?

I was looking on the Auran website and I saw that Trainz 2012 was $49.99 ! I difinitly think Auran should lower thier prices. I'm burning a hole through my pocket.

(I have decided that the price is fair because of its amazing trains, quality, and I just love Trainz. PS, I bought it for retail price.)

Look at it this way, it better thank paying thousands to build a layout in your basement and trying to make room for it also.

Well, you are right, but I personly think $50.00 for a computer game a can download for free online is a bit too much

well, i think the digital DL should be significantly cheaper because there is no disc, no packaging, no shipping ect ect, but eh its whatever

(In reference to bold print)

Sorry, this has to be said. If you tried to get a hack and crack version, you would get what you paid for. That would be nothing. A hacked version would lose out on all the added content and forum support. Please take my advice, it may seem expensive, but there is over 200,000 FREE addons on the CM/DLS alone. Plus all the third party sites that are gracious enough to have freeware as well. So in the long run, I see $50 as a small price to pay for an entire world of add ons and support for a very good sim.

Of course if you read the newsletter as a current subscriber you could have got it for a 25% discount, may still be on even.

Slightly off point, maybe, considering we're talking retail price, but am I the only one who got the EMail offering 50% off across the store?

This is not the first time Auran have done something similar, either, and creating games is not a cheap or easy endeavor so I reckon for the hours upon hours of enjoyment provided Trainz is good value for money. I know I'm getting more and more hooked on it having started that fascinating journey into Surveyor and have so far only scratched the surface.

Let's see. What does $50 buy you these days:

4 tickets to the movies and popcorn. 3 if you go to a 3D movie and no popcorn.
2 tickets to a minor league hockey game
0 tickets to a major-league sporting even
0 tickets to most decent concerts
5 mixed drinks at a decent nightclub
10 mixed drinks at a crappy bar
1 night out at Dave and Buster's.

All of the above things last only a few hours, yet you get hundreds if not thousands of hours out of Trainz.

It's the cheapest thrill you can buy.

@RRSignal thats soo true!
@kenneth, indeed
and if you buy TS12 make sure you have a PC that can handle it, or you'll have a 50 doll hair desktop icon that you cant use

You're right, why don't you go ahead and do that then? Best of luck to you.

The 50% thing is active. I just 5 minutes ago received the latest newsletter saying it is still going on "50% store wide" so is $25 dollors still too much?

G'day all.
I bought Trainz 2010 in December 2010 on special for $40. Problem was, I had to spend $900 on a new computer to be able to use the progy. AND I STILL THINK IT IS GOOD VALUE! Like they say in the add, "The yours of joy I got from TrainZ; PRICELESS."
Hacw a good one.

I am surprised that no one mention the good deal that Jointed Rail has. Now I can not confirm that it is still in place but I know at one time if you bought the program from them, you also got a coupon for 20.00 in payware. So that would drop the price to 32.00 give or take. I would really advise you looking into that. You can find it at http://jointedrail.com

At full price Trainz is the cheapest train hobby on the planet - on a per-hour basis it is so cheap it's ridiculous. At 50% off (if it is) its just silly cheap. Would that buy one decent box car model?

If you'd prefer to steal it (which is what 'download for free online' means) then go away, you're not wanted here...
