Auran, or anyone that may know ...

Are we going to be required to buy TRZ10 EE to able to run Multiplayer, whenever it's released to the public!?

(If there's a thread or post from Auran confirming this please posted here, thanks)

We have not announced any details regarding the final release of Trainz Multiplayer at this time. I'm sure that you'll hear more about this towards the end of the public beta.

kind regards,

chris

Sorry guys;
I'm opting out of this one. With my outdated single-core system having trouble running TS2010 with two trains, I can only expect more stuttering and frustration when I try to run multiplayer.

I am looking forward to upgrading to at least quad core, but would also like to see a completely new version of Trainz (multiplayer or not) that would run more efficiently on any system. Get rid of this 10yr old code, please!!

Ok, thanks for a quick response!

To what are you referring? That Windows 7 still contains code from Windows 2000?

I could just buy a MAC! If I buy an iPad, then at least I could still have my Trainz!!

To be fair, MacOS X still has 25-year-old code inherited from NeXT, and some still-older code inherited from the Unix world. Code doesn't magically become worse over time.

I don't think you will have to buy 2010EE...
I DO think you will have to buy the next version that has multiplayer in it..

Either way even if next version of Trainz is multiplayer it will be optional. If you want to play stand-alone, just do it :)

Dunno what you are talking about here, but I have a old single core P4 and I can run 10 x 100 car trains no problem in 2010, don't think 2010 is ya problem.

You can run 10 100 car trains without a problem? Seems impossible.
What OS, memory, video card?
What route are you running in TS2010?

Perhaps I'm choosing my trains wrong, ie; too much detail.

Or, maybe I should re-configure my system to RAID 0. I don't really think HDD config would do anything for me, since this is an FPS issue, but I read in another thread that it can help.

You should be really careful of RAID 0 since two or more drives are operating as one, instead of two individual drives. If one dies, you'll lose everything because the data is striped across the two.

Its not mate I've been using this machine in tandem with my I7 machine for testing.

P4 3 mhz
Windows XP
2.0 Gig Ram
Geforce 7300GT

Its no whiz bang machine but it runs TS2010 just fine in my opinion, can't match the I7 but ya won't expect it to.

The route is large about 6hrs long, some is bare boards some is detailed, not over the top, of course not all trains are visible.

All the stuff I run is rebuilt by me, with heavy use of lods, mesh stiching, and mesh libraries. My rolling stock is super high detail just heavy use of lods.

That's one of the reasons I dumped the RAID 0. I should have done it right, with RAID 10, but didn't want to go for the 4x 500G HDD's.

Hi Everybody.
If the only upgrade Trainz 2011EE is to have is multiplayer then like many other Trainz users who look at it as a hobby, I will not be buying it. For me Trainz is an individual recreation for creating routes and driving or riding consists along those routes.

Creating a route is something that I enjoy putting my personal imagination into. In driving or riding along those routes gives me even greater enjoyment in looking at what I have created on my own with no assistance from anyone else. It is the world I have built which is personal to me and no one else.

I apologize if the above sounds facetious, but it is what Trainz means to me and from what I have read on these forums over a couple of years, it is also what it means to many others.

oo you don't knwo what your missing in teh world of mp,,, it great,,, cause

you know that train u just pasted at the switch si a real person not a ai

MP is definitely a great upgrade.

For one thing now you won't have to spend any time creating AI schedules for your sessions, other people are dynamically creating traffic for you. With just one session you have unlimited possibilities as to what traffic you may encounter.

With a few improvements things can only get better.
