Trainz for MAC

I'm running it (2009) under XP on my MacBook using BootCamp and it runs well. I started on UTC running it under Parallels, but performance was TERRIBLE. Native Mac version? Nope. :( As long as you have an Intel Mac, Boot Camp works great.

Is there any trainz version for / to run on Macinstosh?
Here is my communication with Auran on this topic.

Sorry, no Mac version as yet. Perhaps next year if we have enough interest.

I can tell you that there is a mac version under development - we can't be more specific than that at this stage.

We have not had the time or resources to dedicate to the Mac edition of Trainz.

Sorry it is not going to happen

Actually it is going to happen and the port to Mac is nearly completed.
I would suggest not to get your hopes up. Maybe one day, but don't hold your breath.

In the mean time, consider one of these options
  • Run on Windows on your Mac (dual boot with BootCamp)
  • Run in the Parallels emulator
  • Run in the CrossOver emulator
Previous versions of Railz work in an emulator (a bit slow and with some quircks, but I could play the game), but more recent versions may give problems. I did run Trainz 2006 fine using Parallels, but has less luck with Trainz 2009 on either Parallels or CrossOver. The overview of Auran product at Codeweaver gives the same information.

MacBook

Had similar answer that Mac version "imminent".
Trying to run on VMWare/Windows XP but keeps coming up with unable to find access Id on Kernel 32.dll .... Not very good at computers so can't figure out what it wants!!
Any ideas???

Looks like they're working on a version of Trainz for iPad & Android. This could be a precursor to a Mac version (here's hoping, anyway)!:udrool:

Also, its not really all that stable, but Wine allows me to run Trainz within OS X, but it takes a bit (rather a lot) of tweaking and command line dancing.

I left the Trainz world when I joined the Mac world over 5 years ago. iPad announcement made me nostalgic for this great piece of software. I would like to see it available for OS X.

I'd definitely buy a Mac version. I run TS2010 on bootcamp-Windows Vista with no problems, but that's not an ideal solution and it's not practical for me to buy a dedicated Windows PC right now.

Please, no Mac version. A Mac version would mean that I would spend even more time messing with Trainz and become even less productive.

Hopefully the now dominant Intel-based Mac makes development easier. (my first question was from 2004, the first Intel Mac became available in 2006). I have high hopes that software like Cider from Transgaming will make the port easy enough for Auran to make it.

I was surprised by the iPad or Andrioid version; I can imagine that that development would me much more resource intensive to create.

Theres also codeweavers.com Crossover which is similar but it can only run TRS2004 and 2006 right now

I feel sorry for anyone developing for the android platform lol theres too much fragmentation. The iPad is one device, android is hundreds of all different spec and size :hehe:

If they can run it on the iPad then there's no reason it can't run on a Mac. It's mostly the same development environment. There's more work to do to run the full version of the software with things like CMP, but the basics should pretty much be already there.
