My understanding is that Auran will only be purging stuff that's not 2009/10 compliant. Making stuff compliant could be a simple matter of modifying a line or two in the Config File.
If authors of affected assets were to make those changes, their assets would become 2009/10 compliant and Auran probably won't delete them.
Some authors are too busy creating new stuff to worry about fixing their older works. They often argue that their older stuff is too simplistic or too uninteresting to fix. Although many of us appreciate this argument, surely we, the users should be the ones to make that decision?
Ian Woodmore from New Zealand has spent many years repairing damaged config files, but due to some recent policy changes by Auran, he's had to do a few again. He's more than happy to make the repaired config files available to everyone, but some authors have told him to leave their stuff alone.
Other authors have moved on and can no longer be contacted, but a few are only too happy for their work to be repaired.
Please read this important thread to see how the support from authors, past and present, is essential for this project to succeed.

I, and a few other Trainzers are supporting Ian. As a result the
Trainz Community News evolved. If you haven't downloaded your copies (February and March) please do so now.
There will soon be a Community web site and yes, it may well become a download source for older assets no longer supported by Auran. At present, this is the last thing on our agenda. We would rather have authors repair their own assets to make them 2009/10 compliant, or allow Ian and other members of the Community to do it for them.
Please throw your full support behind this project because it may wll be the only way these threatened assets will survive. To show your support, you can do one or all of the following:
- Download the Trainz Community Newsletter
- Write a letter to the editor
- Subscribe to the Newsletter
- Use Ian Woodmore's articles, PEV'S tutorials and Tools to fix broken assets you currently want to use
- Write articles for the Newsletter
- Subscribe to our web site when it's running. (Soon we hope)
If you're an Author of assets for earlier versions of Trainz:
- Please make your assets 2009/10 complient or
- Allow Ian to do it for you.
Let's get this thing rolling now, because September is only 6 months away!
