Trainz DRIVER Poll

Crabby Old Geezer
Okay... we have the "Route Builder Poll" and I have read several (more than several actually) who build routes but never, or almost never, use Driver mode. I say to each his own, but I really can't understand why people would build his/her route and NEVER drive in it. So, how many of us love to drive trains and why------ or why do you NOT drive trains? I love both. I love making routes and I love setting up sessions and spend hours driving (or riding) in my trains watching the scenery go by, blowing the horn, passing other consists, etc. In other words, do you drive trains and why? What's your pleasure?

Good point , I have always enjoyed the building aspect of trains ,even when I had a very large (200feet) ho layout. I do run trains on my routes and like you said ,its great to sit in the cab and watch the scenery go by but for me, the challenge of building seems to dominate.

^ I guess we're alone, greywolfretired... nobody else must like to run in driver mode.... at least, no one is responding to my thread.

I create a layout and run it to death making sure all is correct. After that, typically the only time I drive it is when I get new rolling stock.

I love driving the trains from outside and sitting in the cab, the smoke detail is great. I have not found out how to sit in the passenger cars yet, i have the 09 BETA and no manual. I have tried surveyor but need to study up on it more before i dive in and make some layouts.

From the external view (2), press (-) which will move you back one unit. keep doing this untill you gat to a car that suports internal view and press (1). That would be some passenger cars and some caboses. Has any one made such a box car with doors open?

I like driving, but route building and content creation seems to be my passion. However, I often just like to hop in the cab of a locomotive (sometimes diesel, but mostly steam) and watch the scenery roll past while I'm busy trying to maintain steam pressure and speed limit (and not run a red board!).
