Trainz content to Railworks

im probably going to get alot of angry stares for this.

As we all know Railworks has been a little bit of a major competitor to trainz with better graphics, steam workings, and several other things. So what i say, is that when we content creators make content for trainz, we should make a version of it for railworks because as we all know, they dont have as much stuff as we do. Anyone even going to think about this? Just an idea.

My stare isn't an angry one, it's a puzzled one. Are we supposed to feel sorry for them because they don't have as much. I don't understand why there's so much support of a competitor of Auran's on this site, one that Auran pays for. I'm sure that Railworks appreciates it though.

At Leeferr & others - Two questions (My main question is the second)

1. Before you comment, just how many items were made for MSTS that are now also in Trainz, and were asked/are asked if people made stuff for MSTS is it possible to make them for Trainz?

2. But most importantly, honestly, what is the difference when MSTS items are also made for Trainz, and Trainz items also made for Railworks, OR any other simulator?

For example, the three following images may either be from the one train simulator, or they may be from two train simulators.

This is the third Trainz thread I have seen this morning going on about Railworks.

It's a simple fact that not many of those who created 3D models for Trainz or MSTS have bothered with Railworks. For those of us who get some pleasure out of all the sims, it would be stupendous to see items such as the JVC trees or Dave Drake's building dioramas in RW but accept it's unlikely to happen.

A few more freeware models for RW would also kill the reliance on having to fuel freeware routes from payware routes, which is already heading off in a slightly ugly direction with recent actions by one US developer/publisher.

Listen folks. Your getting a bit out of line here.
These here forums were created for registered Trainz users. If they were for Railworks, MSTS or any other train simulator, they wouldn't be called the trainz forums.

Moderators, please kill this thread before it gets out of hand.

mind i ask you, i believe the word COMMUNITY comes into play. besides we're all trainz users, its just not all of us have just one train simulator. I have railworks Trainz and MSTS and i love all of them, so if you dont like it, you can leave thank you

I don't think it is as easy as you think. Having built many objects for Trainz I know that there is a pretty steep learning curve to getting an object from idea to usable in Trainz. Even if you start from a 3D mesh that you own, going from there to in game is quite a leap. Unless a Trainz creator was to switch completely to another sim, I don't think many would want the headaches of supporting multiple sims to say nothing of distribution and updates.

This is not a myopic "mine sim is better than your sim" issue. From a practical point of view, not easily doable.

I suggest that those of us who are getting just a bit cheesed of with this daily bombardment of Railfail propoganda contant Auran to get this stopped .

I mean i'm all for free speech and lets give them 1 thread to post there propaganda in but all these seperate threads are getting beyond a joke .

We made some content for RW. Then we were bombarded with outright DEMANDS that we make more RW content. That sim isn't even close in comparison to TRS. Maybe in a couple of years when they figure out the basics will they be able to compete with TRS. Don't get me wrong, TRS still has it's bugs, but where it is now is way ahead of RW. By the time they catch up to us, they will be a distant memory.

Anyway, just my opinion. The majority of the RS/RW community that I have dealt with are pretty unhelpful, rude, and demanding, so I really don't feel like they deserve any content for their sim. (I have actually gotten demanding emails from about 6 different users telling me that I need to release my reskins for Railworks, and that my M420 better be going to RW as well.)

Seriously, if both Trainz and RW could benefit from each other's content, then it's all good, but I can't see what I stand to gain from releasing my meshes to RW otherwise (as I don't even have it).
