Trainz Classics Series

Bit mystified by this new site.

Trainz Classics is the title but apparently no seperate forum for it.
I can't find any discussion or very little.

There was another thread I posted on and managed to find out a little but the complete thread seems to have vanaished.
So another try and if this "vanishes" I will call it a day.

I enquired about the Trainz Classics Product in the thread I mentioned and one post had a "sigh" and another "thats not hard to understand is it".

If the posts were in repy to mine I don't know but if they were, what the members did not know is that do not have any Trainz products at present, and had had no active contact with Trainz for maybe a year or so, although started with the very first edition, and later concentrated on maritime content set in age of 200 years or so ago.
Nor have I followed all the postings or announcements on the forum.

My main interests for "Trainz". Canal networks, extensive docks, horse drawn canal boats and barges, maybe slate mining, etc. This is because no sailing simulators at present have variable water levels which is essential for canals and also a complex layout of 50 or so sailing ships and barges, with sea and river systems, could be set up, with many boats running at the same time.
I have also made routes with trams, trains, underground tunnels or whatever but main interests are now maritime.

I managed to ascertain that for all intents and purposes Trainz Classics is similar to "perhaps" the next version of Trainz.
Includes Surveyor so you can make your own sceneries, make your own content, install your own content and load your own scenery and content. Also you can download and install content form the DS. I have about 200 items on it which I need to get back. I assume it has all patches or equivalent to take it beyond 2006. New functions were mentioned and also 2 routes I think.
As I did not get 2006 version I have no idea of the workings of CMP also I am on dial up.
Also I do not order on line.

So will the Trainz Clasics versions be available from the regional suppliers in a version that do not have to leave the disc in the computer, or only
available from software stores and will that version need disc in computer.

Are the file types the same using gmax? Will gmax still work with it?
I downloaded a new copy of gmax and if it does, will make content with Blender and texture in gmax, if dxf still imports into gmax.

Finally will content and sceneries made with present version of Trainz Classics be usable with previous versions. Otherwise content etc will be out of date each 6 months or so.

Seem reasonable questions to me, for a potential purchaser, for a product which I think was mentioned to be on sale in June?

You've basically stated everything on my mind. This whole Trainz Classics Series seems to be more than a little cryptic... There is absolutely NO information on the website or forums.

This is certainly not the same Auran and Trainz Community I've known and loved since 2001. We can't even discuss and speculate about the new Trainz series without worry of the thread vanishing now?

Hi. We will see what happens this time round and maybe get more details?.

P.S. My post in large size print was due to writing it in wordpad, copying and pasting, not for emphasis.

Barry, all I really know is that the ships will be made of raised land.
Ed:p

Ed. Not forgetting your deckchairs was it?
Might have to use your terrain ship idea of 4 years or so ago:( ;)
as don't think I can remember how to use gmax.

Check out the sticky thread at the top of the Announcements forum. The bulk of the info is there.
The operating specs are roughly equivalent to TRS06, so if you can run that, you can run TC.
The roads feature prototypical traffic, with one way and divided traffic.
And the download system is supposed to be a lot easier and more reliable than CMP.
I'm sure Lance will be along in a minute to correct any errors and fill in the details, but overall, I think it's got real potential.
