Trainz Classics rough on my comp

Even though my desktop comp passed all the checklist for operating Trainz Classics, it ran REAL slow and finally locked up on it. I think the system requirements for the game are a bit conservative, to say the least. I have a Pent 4 2 gig processor, 512 meg of ram, Nvidia 256 meg 7800GS AGP video card video card, Windows XP SP3. I would suggest 2 gig of ram and a faster processor to get best performance.

1 gig is the bear minimum i would say. And I have 1 gig of Ram and runs like a charm:)I had 512MB and it did not run well at all.

I think you are probably right. With TC I think the more RAM the better. Unfortunately, the RAM for my desktop is pretty expensive compared to other types of RAM (its Rambus RDRAM).

You sure it's the mistake of the PC? Think again. I have:

E2140 1.6 C2D
1GB
XFX 8500GT 512 (Physx)
XP SP3

and I had to reset the computer TWICE!

I am now seeking help from the Auran helpdesk, but I don't think they have understood the problem. They have told me to apply the TC3 patch, but I think it's already patched.

Thx.

I think the problem is poor code in TC3 after reading about the various bugs and my own experience. I've basically given up on TC3 and reverted to Rail Simulator, which gives me cab FPS of 25-35 and open country of up 50 FPS with sliders full up. TC3 is about 7-8 FPS with low sliders in the Carlisle-Skipton area.
System: 3.06 GHz P4 HT, 1.5 Gb Rdram 1066, Radeon HD3850 AGP, Win XP Pro SP3

You guys may be right. I'm back to TRS2004 myself. if Auran doesn't get their thing together with these new(?) releases, MSTS2 is gonna pass them right by when it's released.

Your not alone,I have a 7900GS(pcix)although it runs good in less built up areas, when it comes to Carlisle or main goods yards it runs like a dog.

Carlisle city has gone, replaced with 2d backdrops,I dont know what the idea behind that grey stuff underneath the track is maybe to tidy the appearance up when the track has gaps,to me this only adds to the frame rate issue, making any sort of activity in built up areas unplayable.
