Trainz Classics Article.

Is that something you put together Glenn?

I am trying to get as much info as I can vacuum up :) before the TC release.

"We've re-invented Trainz. We've made it look and run better and made it easier to use so as to bring in new Train lovers, whilst keeping our current loyal users happy ... At the same time we've conducted a complete audio-visual overhaul to make it more authentic than any Trainz release to date."

A complete audio-visual overhaul. Wonder what that means in practical terms?

The splash screen and visuals whilst surveyor, routes, etc. are loading, that sort of thing? The 'presentation' of the simulator in other words.

I am still puzzling over what a, "Trains transformer" is.

Hi

Hmm intresting article,:hehe: but I can't see Auran mentioning anything about the Graphics Engine?, is Trainz Classics useing the Auran Jet Engine 2.0? or has the code just been updated? and other thing is their is nothing mentioned about dynamic weather with real time particle effects? or is the weather effects in Trainz Classics still the same as 06? a lot questions still unanswered.

Hey Ed

It looks like you've been reading too much Terry Pratchett speaking like that (If you don't know who Terry Pratchett is, then I'd suggest you get reading, NOW!).

Ashan, I think you are asking a little too much for this version, but stay tuned...

Cheers
Tony

AHSAN,

Trainz Classics is built on the same base code as TRS2006, with improvements made to areas that were lacking in that version. Effectively, TC uses the same Auran Jet engine, yet has vastly updated code to introduce new features and improve on old favourites, while the weather remains pretty much unchanged from TRS2006.

We are using Trainz Classics as a building block, to introduce even more features, while maintaining the same easy to use functionality that the user is familiar with in all Trainz products. In this way we can continue to develop Trainz while keep the genre attractive to the corporate side of the equation.

And there remains a lot of questions still unasked ;)

Cheers.

Now Lance,

That is an open invitation if ever I saw one.

Whilst I am prepared too wait and see how things develope, and what is contained in the initial release.

Can you enlighten us about any features that effect:-

1/. The physics of the motive power?
2/. Sorry 'bout this, but it is my "Pet" area. Engine sound, particularly steam?
3/. New features that effect us "curious types of people" who fiddle with Steam?

I'll leave it at that. And before any one jumps on me. No I'm not expecting all these things coming with the initial release. I am interested though for the long term.

Many thanks,

Alex

Hmmm, considering that both featured lines are electric (well mostly), one would think that steam may not have been the focus this time around. But, ...

Alex,

The physics model used in TRS2006 has been retained, with the emphasis on the creator being able to configure their models to suit what best suits them config file setup.

Sound is another story. Significant improvements over TRS2006 have been made in this area, including steam sound generation. Please don't misunderstand me though, it is still a long way from perfect, and short of a sound engine rewrite it will still have issues. However I'm sure you'll notice the improvements.

Cheers.

Hi Lance,

Thankyou for answering.

The question of the physics is good news indeed, and meens that we can have a "constant" too work with. Like everything else, areas of improvement can be pointed out, but the consistency definetly makes things easier.:)

The news on the sound is also terrific as well. :)

As Tony pointed out, the initial release is "Traction" oriented. And that is understood.

I must admit though, that I am curious about the future and the features that will become available too us.:udrool: <------ First time I've used that silly smiley:hehe:

Anyway, thankyou for taking the time.

Hi Lance

Can you enlighten me on how 'improved menu structures' is going to impact the content management in TC?

Cheers

Ahhh I remember when I first used the smiley symbol. I resisted for months. Now it is a differnet story....
:) :D ;) :( :mop:

There was mention of a 'Content Creator's edition' in one of the newsletters. Is that still the plan? If so, cn you give us any more information about it?

Thanks!
