That's somewhat later than I was expecting. Two and a half months seems an awful long time to wait for a product that it was being implied was pretty much finished. :(

The only good news is the confirmed price. Hope the date is an error of some sort.

It's an anagram of some sort! 23/08/2008 todays date: 03/06/2008

8-2=6 month...

00/06/0000

Get rid of the zeros from the year 2008 = 28

28th - day

28/06/0000

What calculation for the year? :hehe:

Take the two 0 from the 2008 and put a 2 in front of them...

2+6=8 put that at the end of 200 = 2008.

28/06/2008...There we go...:hehe:

If thats true now I'll be... :Y:  Hope that makes scence...

Cheers,
Mike

I wonder they don't make a torrent of it, Blender Magazine and some BBC items are available in this way, Utorrent is fairly reasonable these days.

That way you could purchase the key and get it sent via email. Even if you restricted the key to known Trainz registered users we could get it a bit faster eases the cash flow and it might even save a bit of packaging.

How does TRS Classics 3rd ed differ from TRS2006?
Would it be a worthwhile upgrade or addition to 06?
I would have gone to auran to find out, but at the moment I am writing this, auran.com is down.

It has been said many times that Auran are too short of staff and too busy with TC3 to update the DLS. Does this mean we have to wait until late August before we see more frequent updates on the DLS? If so, I want my FCT put on hold!

Where did you hear that???

It is true that Auran is short staffed but they claim to be putting out an DLS update every few weeks. Also after TC3 is out they will start work on TC4 so holding off for TC3 to be release won't make much of a difference (if anything they will be even more bogged down; due to tech support issues)

If it is this year, don't complain.
I have been waiting 11 years and counting for Duke Nukem (Takes) Forever. I only got into Trainz to pass the time until it comes out.:o

Interesting you say that, because I thought they were updating weekly?

And I can almost guarantee that like the other versions, that it will need updating (more commonly known as leaving stuff out)

Well for one Auran wont make any money out of it, and for to it's not the best place to be for under 16's!

Cheers,
Mike

Nice price and while it would be nice to have seen an earlier release, end of August will give me time to finish my current project in TRS2006. One question for Mike - will UK orders be shipped from the UK or will we have to wait for them to come from Oz?

I have no interest in buying via Download or Torrent, would much rather have the crisp DVD sitting on the shelf in a nice case!

Also, at what point will we actually be able to order the item?

Sorry, why wouldn't Auran make any money? You'd pay for the key in the same way that PaintShop Pro downloadable works, only the delivery method would be Torrent. It wouldn't be a matter of having to search for the torrent on dubious sites and get dubious versions just have a link on the Auran web site. Auran gets its money without having to burn and ship out DVDs more profit for Auran, the product arrives faster for me. Less packaging, less stock control for those who can live without a DVD and my downloaded copy of PaintShop Pro works fine came from Corel.

Torrent is a respectable enough method now that companies such as the BBC are using it and it is used in the open source world. Have a read here:

http://www.blenderart.org/2007/12/03/bam-collection-issue-13-torrents-available/

or here

http://www.blenderart.org/issues/

It could be applied to other problems such as downloading large content files.

As you can see a direct link to the Torrent it's all quite respectable.
