Trainz archiving assets to removable drive

My hard disk is getting full again and I need to archive some of the route versions, but I am uncertain how to do this to a removable drive. Trainz is supposed to keep track of what it has archived, but is it going to break if I move the archive files onto a USB disk? I know I tried this on a laptop three years ago but the notes I kept were on that laptop which has now got a fried graphics card, and I recall vaguely that moving the archive files upset CM somewhat.

The versions I am working with are TS2012 back to TC3

By "archive files" I presume you are referring to ".cdp" files?

You can export to .cdp any assets you find in Content Manager. All your routes and sessions can certainly be stored as .cdp files on any external drives, including cloud drives. I do this as a simple method of backing up my work.

My memory only goes as far back as TS12 (age and alcohol have fogged the rest) but I had no problems storing my routes and sessions this way.
