A big Yeh!for TS2009, as a long time end user of Trainz, I say with authority that Trainz gets better and betterTrainz 2009 is Ready for you with its new features and graphics but still is easy to use and works well and is still compatible with all trainz software's. How do you feel about it?![]()

Ah, the voice of doom
I find it very interesting how some people prefer to look for possible negatives rather than try to help make things better.
Can I ask, Quiebus, why you would prefer to have your Beta Serial number published in a forum post and to dish out negative sentiment on Trainz 2009 during Beta, rather than participate in the Beta process and help us make the product better?
One possible solution is that you are so happy with your current version of Trainz that you think there is no way it could ever be improved upon. I feel that there will never be a time where Trainz cannot be further improved.
You indicate 2006 is the defining yardstick of future performance. Does experience count for nothing? What do you think our motivation might be to try and make an inferior product? I would love to hear why you think we wouldn't want Trainz 2009 to be the best ever version of Trainz, or, for that matter, why you think it won't be.
Hopefully my words will translate well and you will realize that I am not provoking argument but rather promoting a discussion to understand your motivations in making the comments you have made.

Pretty simple Tonny. First, because I don't believe the way YOU are handling the company is the right way for it to prosper after you lost 13 million on Fury ... Auran should have got rid of you. Secondly I don't believe that you honour your customers by dishing a game four months after its release and refuse to hand those customers the repairs it needs. Thirdly, because I don't believe you can build a good simulator within a few months as your are so desperately trying to prove with this TRS2004 upgrade ... because THAT is what this is. Not a new simulator but an upgrade for which you ask two times an amount of money for mostly the same old stuff that was available five years ago. Fourth, because splitting up the simulator in two will NOT bring everybody on the same platform you so desperately want us to believe. Fifth, the in-game browser thing is un-needed and for me is this "feature" alone prove enough that YOU decide what is best for the game and not your customers. The first step Auran should take in gaining my confidence is sending you home. I am all for second chances in life ... I have had a few myself being a cancer survivor for instance, but you really need to learn to become a bit more humble after your disastrous Fury project. Your word just doesn't mean a lot in that regard. Do you want me to continue?

Has anyone with the beta seen if the TC items and 06 items work side by side in the game? I was wondering how easy it is to get previous games content to work in 09.
Fury was a different time and place with different objectives. I have admitted in the past that as CEO I was ultimately responsible. Trainz 2009 couldn't be more different to Fury in terms of scale and length of development. Trainz has been "in development" since 2000 and has a large customer base with detailed knowledge of what they'd like improved in their rail simulator of choice.First, because I don't believe the way YOU are handling the company is the right way for it to prosper after you lost 13 million on Fury ... Auran should have got rid of you.
I'm not sure what you're referring to, but I believe TS2009 is the version that will give customers everything they want and need. We are building upon a very solid base and will be releasing regular free updates on our way to making Trainz 2010 and beyond.Secondly I don't believe that you honour your customers by dishing a game four months after its release and refuse to hand those customers the repairs it needs.
I totally agree that a few months just isn't enough to build a simulator from scratch. But we've had 3 years since 2006 was released and TS2009 incorporates not just the first 5 years development but alos the last 3 years of Classics features. I'm not sure why you've singled out 2009 as an upgrade to 2004 since it is also an update to Trainz V1, V1.3, UTC, 2006, TC1,2&3. Just like Fifa (the biggest selling franchise of them all) we iterate and improve every year.Thirdly, because I don't believe you can build a good simulator within a few months as your are so desperately trying to prove with this TRS2004 upgrade ... because THAT is what this is.
Actually $30 + $30 = $60 which is 20% more than $50 not double (all major releases have been $50 since 2001).Not a new simulator but an upgrade for which you ask two times an amount of money for mostly the same old stuff that was available five years ago.
We're really only splitting up the release of 2009 into two parts. Once TEE is out everyone is really on the same platform. To get new content you really need the new platform and so that's why we're releasing WBE months before TEE.Fourth, because splitting up the simulator in two will NOT bring everybody on the same platform you so desperately want us to believe.
The in-game browser has had less than one person for less than half the development cycle. This makes it less than 10% of the development effort. You are right that I do decide what goes in or not, but you're wrong about the customers having no say in the matter. There are many threads involving customer input into the design features and more detailed terrain and texturing was far and away the major feture request.Fifth, the in-game browser thing is un-needed and for me is this "feature" alone prove enough that YOU decide what is best for the game and not your customers.
It doesn't sound like you're prepared to give me a second chance at all. Your mind is made up that 2009 will be a disaster and it is all down to my handling of Fury. I can't figure out that logic at all. It's not like Fury is the first MMO to go down - Hellgate London, made by the team that made Diablo II and with a rumored $25M marketing budget also failed in the same space of time. Does that make their CEO Bill Roper your enemy too?The first step Auran should take in gaining my confidence is sending you home. I am all for second chances in life ... I have had a few myself being a cancer survivor for instance, but you really need to learn to become a bit more humble after your disastrous Fury project. Your word just doesn't mean a lot in that regard.
If you feel you have something constructive to say, then by all means continue. If you wish to question my integrity further then I'm not interesting in listening.Do you want me to continue?
