Trainz 04 and Windows 7

I have a new Win 7 Home Premium machine. I was having trouble loading stuff into TRS2004 so I found the post on how to properly install into Vista / Win 7. Today, when I went to delete TRS2004 to start over as per that post, I found an option to make an older program compatable with Win 7. It set TRS2004 to XP SP2 mode. No re-install required.
It WORKED!!! (Aparently). I downloded a stockcar from the DLS and it showed up in Railyard.

Great! Thank you. If I may ask, where did you find the option to make an older program compatable? Control panel on Windows?

Thanks again!

I stumbled on to it about an hour before you posted. Win 7 searched all programs and listed all that were not fully Win 7. It included TRS2004. When I selected it from the list Win 7 checked and determined XP SP2 would be the best mode. I let it happen and it worked, for me.
I replyed to your post and then tried to replicate it. I have not been able to find that function again as yet. I did discover if I select a program's .exe and it's properties, there is a compatiblity tab that allows me to decide on my own what compatabilty mode to use and make it happen. Try it.
If that fails, you should find the post "How to run TRS2004 in Vista & Windows 7" Or "How to run TRS2004 in Vista" at the TRS2004 section's FAQs, Tips and Tweaks.

Thank you!!

Right click on the program shortcut and choose "properties". The click on the "compatibility" tab and select "Change settings for all users" and authenticate if required. Then check the "Run in compatibility mode for:" box and change the drop down to XP SP2. Also check the "Run in administrator mode" box. Then OK out.
