Trackmark Slowdowns

In order to keep my AI trains from taking the scenic route through non-related industries (which have slower speed limits than the mainline), I use trackmarks lableeled like ps byp for a power station bypass etc. Doesn't matter if I use drive via or navigate via, the train slows down to about 12 mph (in a 45) as it gets about a half mile near the trackmark, then takes off again back to normal sped, crosses the trackmark, and then does it again at the next one. Thoughts on this?

Another thing is the tendency without trackmarks, that it thinks going 25 mph through a long industry loop is faster than waiting a couple minutes for the mainline block ahead to clear. Very annoying. Thoughts?

Are you using Drive/Navigate Via or Drive/Navigate To?

Using the 'To' commands will lead to a slow-down or even a dead stop, but AI Trains should pass a 'Via' without slowing...

hi mate
i had that problem when i placed the trackmark too close to a signal or points.
slide it back a bit and the trains will go faster

cheers

as mentioned in original post, 'via' in both cases.
I read the OP, just wanted to check before a long dissertation which may have been pointless.

Your trains are not slowing because of the 'Drive/Navigate Via' commands. Something else is slowing them down.

As suggested it could be placement, but I suspect that there are signals not clearing (or unsignaled junctions) in the vicinity of the trackmarks. A couple of Surveyor screenshots would help isolate the cause...

I'll try moving a few next week when I get back. Some places I know they're close. It's a 20 mile 4 track mainline with lots of turnouts to industries. The inner tracks are freight, so they have to cross the express tracks which required tons of 'trigger multiple signal' rules. Thanks.
