From what I just read, there was little interest in the building once the purpose was over. It was leased out to a couple of other parties but once they left that was it.
There are many buildings like this or were like this that served their purpose then get torn down. For people interested in transportation these may have a historical connection, but for the rest of the world including most of the politicians who would need to save the structures, these do not. In many places once wonderful railroad terminals get vandalized, burned out, and eventually torn down. It's sad but true, and in many cases people look back where these buildings once stood and put up a historical marker to signify that the great and wonderful station or terminal once stood.
I could take this post way off topic, but I could sight many examples of this.
