I don't know, maybe this has been posted with a solution elsewhere, but even so, the search function is nearly impossible to use.
Okay, the default track sounds, the "click clack." The default sounds that come with trainz can be disabled via trainzoptions.txt. However, what about the Jointed Rail track sounds that are on all jr equipment...? Is it possible to disable them as well? It's not that they aren't good sounds, I just don't care for them all that much. I find that when more than 50ft from the track, the track sounds will cut in and out. This can be very annoying. Also, I notice that they also can be louder than the enginesounds. If not a way to disable them, what about changing the volume of the sounds?
Second, it seems that whenever I put a locomotive into notch 1 while in forward or reverse, the turbocharger has blown and smoke goes everywhere. The best smoke effects in my opinion are after the train is moving about 20 or 30mph and only slightly come from the stack. I have never seen a locomotive discharge as much smoke as the ones in Trainz after notching to notch 1. Also, for the C30-7's, even at notch 4 at 50mph, the smoke looks like a steamer coming down the main. This is okay when the engine is really working hard, but whenever the throttle is at anything but idle, the smoke pours out. Not only is this very unrealistic, but hard of frame rates.
This probably seems like nothing but a thread full of complaints, but I hope this will become more of a dicussion for new ideas and changing settings for one's personal preferences.
