Hi poptart and welcome to the forum.
There are thousands of 'layouts' (generally referred to as Routes). To get a meaningful answer we need to know more about your interests - nationality, period, city, rural, small switching route, large mainline run etc etc.
Just to add a hint: edit your email address out of that post. The web is full of bots that scan forums looking for exactly that. In no time at all the junk mail will start. Put your address in your profile, anybody who needs it will find it there...
