Track layouts and jumping trains

Hi,
I'm having some problems getting tracks to line up correctly in a rail yard. The problem is, if it is a problem, is that my test locomotive jumps sideways when crossing a switch or rather the rear bogie appears to jump sideways. Other than trying to make the turnout less acute is there something else I can do?

I'm using one of MartinVK's 1T splines and I just noticed that he has some turnout guides. Is there a tutorial somewhere for this? The descriptions for the assets might get me through if not.

Alternatively - should I use fixed tracks and turnouts in a railyard?

TIA
Paul

If you go thru a switch that is set the wrong way you will get a jump. If in derail mode it will likely derail.
If not that then maybe you need to make the track aproaching the switch straight, even if only for a foot. To try to clarify, if you look at the switch as a letter Y, straighten the bottom (vertical) part.

Hello Paul,

For all questions about track laying and much, much more, have a look at these tutorials.

Greetings from Amsterdam and best wishes for 2010,

Jan

Thanks. I'd actually read the first 3 or 4 parts of those tutorials and have printed a copy for reference. My problem turned out that I was driving the locomotive through the switch that was set the wrong way. I should have known that but I'll confess I spend way more time route building than actually driving trains - except for testing the routes.

And a great New Year to you as well. My new years eve will be spent outside on the deck in shorts and t shirt sipping 1 or 2 Heineken beers.
Its a bit warmer here (30 degrees C) than in Europe.:hehe:

Consists will derail regardless of wether or not the derailment level is set to zero if the switch is in the incorrect position....that is unless there's something wrong with my copy of both 04 & 06 as I've got the drailment realism turned off & still get derailments at turnouts with incorrectly positioned switches.
