Track following Rulers

Hello,
is there any tool in the game which allows me to add a ruler to the track to study the distance between Point A and Point B.

the present ruler in the game does to follow the track, it is only useful when the track is straight, i have lot of curved tracks or turning trackings which the ruler does not follow,

so is there any way in the game to measure track distances properly ???

Please help,
Thank you,
Suren

About the best you can do is create a straight line with the ruler between the entry & exit points of your curve & then find the ruler's centerpoint & add additional rulers going perpendicular to that to creat a "spoke effect" as a means of measuring the radius of the curve....there's a decent tutorial on one site that explains how to do it.

It has been suggested before....

Make a consist of a known lenght.... 0.5 or 1.0 Miles or kilometers... your choice.

Place mile markers/track marks... at start and'/or end of consist..... move the consist...mark again.

This will handle curves, etc.

Slow... but it works.

Have fun,

TrackScanner by sforget is on the DLS here. You just place two special trackmarks and read off the distance between. A couple of caveats tho - it was designed for TRS04, I have no idea whether it works with later versions and there is a known issue involving failure to read past some mocrossing objects....

Andy :)

works in 09, ive used this method a few times.

Hello guys,
Thank you very much for the advices,

I created a 1 KM long Train to use as ruler, now i'm using real scale,
so in my country in one Rail Line sometimes there are station between very 2 to 3 KM, so i created the same in trainz stations between 2 Km or 3 Km apart but in game they seem like there so close, but in real life it takes 8 min to travel that distanse sometimes in train, yes, i can redused the train speed, but in mini map they look so close to together,

so is TrainZ 1 KM = Real life 1 KM ??
could you please advice ??
Thank you

If you're using metric measurement in "real scale", yes. But if you're not already aware, Trainz base boards are a bit less than 3/4 of a km (720 m) square, so representing the distance of 3 km between stations would need 4 boards, not 3.
