A very strange thing has happened, I had a blue screen error on launching trains it was doing a quick database check on launch, after restarting the computer , Trainz asked me to put in my serial key again plus my password and user name. Did that relaunched goes thru database check again, Look for my route in menu ITs GONE. what the. Its not in my content in content manager either. But what I have downloaded is. By the way the stop error said PFN_ LIST corrupted. does anyone know what that is. Lucky I wasnt too far advanced in my new route, so its start again(deep sigh).:eek::confused:

Was it a BSOD (blue screen of death) ? Clean your PC vents and insides, as this may show overheating.

I blow my desktop out with a 379 mph leaf blower ... now my house is full of dust.

(a small straw or plastic model sprue will keep the fan bearings from over spinning while cleaning).

About the routes menu gone, it happened to me too. I solved the issue by copying the content again from the temp folder to the N3V/Auran folder in "Program Files", and then doing a quick database check.

In fact when it doesn't run as an administrator, Trainz may store your content in a subdirectory of the "temp" folder in Windows. And next time you launch trainz it have forgotten everything including assets, options settings, serial number etc

The advice to back up one's work cannot be too often said, nor too often heard. And backing up means not only saving it to disk, but saving it twice, once to each of two different "disks", for example, once to your hard drive, and once to a USB thumb drive, or to an optical drive, or to a back up hard drive. Because I started doing this early on, after learning the lesson the hard way, I still have access to two copies of nearly every piece of content I've ever created (or in the case of payware, purchased) in any format, with any machine, on any platform. The amount of time I've saved in not having to recreate work I've already done because of computer, or more frequently. mine own error, runs into the months.

Yes it was the BSOD which i have has a few since my upgrade in hardware and windows 7, Have done a memory check so its not a Ram issue, Have a feeling that the patching up to 49933 is not a very stable version. as all my BSOD are after saving and on exit game.

Have a look in the userdata trash folder if 2010 or backup folder if TS12. Also if not there run an EDR may just be the database out of wack not the actual files missing.

If you are getting frequent BSOD's then its more likely a hardware problem, check event viewer for errors and warnings.

I don't think the patch is your problem unless it some how became corrupted. I have been using my patched version for over three months with no problems at all. If anything, my FPS are better now than before patching.

Just about every time I start trainz it runs automatic a update of asset database. Never used to that very often. Just checked the event viewer and we have application errors and WMI errors(39times in 7days????) and application errors 25times in 7days. Ill throw that one out to the general forumers for you to ruminate on. cos I have no idea.
