I'm probably making the biggest fool of myself by posting this but I'm in need of help in what seems like the simplest of things...

I'm happily downloading things from the download station within Trainz Mac and it's all downloading, completing and installing, however when I go onto my game, I can't find it at all, and it's not in the installed content list in the content manager... am I doing something obviously wrong?

Please help!

go on trainz, and in options, it will say surveyor settings, the untick "show favorite content only" or something along those lines. lemme know if it works.

Thanks for the speedy reply... been on options and can't find that under any of the headings. The routes I've downloaded are also missing and I've unticked 'only show favourite' routes...

btw James, dont think you're a fool or idiot or noob when asking questions about trainz...the only way to learn about trainz is to ask, because everyone knows the manual and tutorials dont explain how to deall with the important things...

like for two months i had no clue that you could add baseboards to the map, and i kept making these tiny 1x1 maps:D . man did i feel like a moron

Cheers mate! Still getting to grips with it 4 hours since I downloaded hehe... and when you say run on an admin account... do you mean on my mac or on the actual app? Cause I'm already on an admin account on my mac... ;P

hmmmm... i dont know macs that well...

another thing i did to solve a problem i had, that was pretty similar to what is happening to you, is i uninstalled it, and reinstalled it like this:

it was originally installed like this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Users\Auran\TS2010\...

to this:

C:\Auran\TS2010\...

removing the "Program Files (x86)" part ensures that windows has no control over trainz.

maybe you can try that. this should really become a sticky.

Hmm, open up your CMP and have a look at the tab 'Open for Edit' on the main window. If there's a whole list there then this means that the CMP isn't committing the downloaded assets. What you do in this case is select all, right click on a selected item and from the popup menue choose commit. This will make everything available in trainz itself. You should have a look in the settings of the CMP as well, because this should be possible to do automaticly immediately after the downloading of each item.
I'm on windows myself so I refrained from giving keyboard shortcuts 'couse those probably will be different on a Mac.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jan, nothing was in the open for edit window, so instead I opened for edit then downloaded then tried committing from the open for edit window but it comes back with an error due to a missing config file... any help?!

hmmmmm... see, again im stumped, because i dont know macs/ apples. i'll try to get one of the really helpful guys on the forum that is great with this stuff to help you. his name is shaneturner12.

yeah no problem. i wish i knew more about computers, but i'm an old school motorhead. i know everything that has to do with motors, especially anything older than 1980. i drive a 1979 chevy pickup. carbeurated motor. lol. not a single computer involved.

Not completely sure what you did there, but the downloading from the DLS should work whatever tab on the main screen you have open. If you opened something for editing that gives an error result when you commit it again it was probably a buildin item. Right click on it and from the popup > Edit submenu choose revert to original, or just revert. That hopefully cures the error.

As said I'm not really familiar with the apple OS, after you downloaded the game, do you need to install it, or is it more a question of placing it in a folder and create a shortcut on the desktop to run it. I ask because, on windows at least, trainz can be quite temperamental when it comes to installing the game correctly.
Some things to look out for (on windows) are disabling internet connection and the virus scanner before doing the install. This is certainly the case with updates and service packs. Not much more to add for help I'm afraid.

hey Jan, i too dont know much about apples/ macs, but ive used them before, and they have their own built-in internet connections and virus scanners, unlike windows, the ones on mac, im pretty sure, arent as easy to turn off. thats why i dont like apple computers. you cant mess with the OS. which is a good thing in most cases, but not for trainz.

Unfortunately when reverting back it just says the file is faulty now.

The mac app store automatically installs and places Trainz in the applications folder so no actual install is necessary if you get me?

i re-read your first post, and i think i know whats going on...

your trainz game is working fine, and your computer is downloading things fine, but the part where the downloaded items are to actually be installed into trainz isnt working.

lets try one more thing i know of.

start up trainz, then click options, then tick the box that says "run compatibility mode"

report back and lemme know what happens.

I could turn off the internet connection during installation, but as I downloaded an online copy, if I turned off the internet connection during the installation... it just wouldn't install.. haha
