Topographic Contour Maps for Trainz

Hi guys. Pop quiz: How do you generate a topographic contour map for a Trainz route? Is such a thing even possible? Or do I have to do it the crazy way I've envisioned?

If you are looking for demographic Maps of the USA that you can use that already have Rivers/roads/Train lines marked out with Hog colours (each colour indicates the above)then I suggest you type in the following username into the DLS and tick the 2004 box

Fishlipsatwork, then tick Layouts, He (paul) did about 180 Maps of routes nealy all are for USA.

I feel sure you will find a map of the area you can use.

My Map of San Francisco was built on one of his maps.

I suspect the poster is asking if there's a way to create a topographic map of a route they've created themself. The answer would be, not as far as I know. It would be very handy though (like the old Railroad Tycoon maps on which one could turn a display of elevations on and off).

So what is the "crazy way" you've envisioned? Whatever it is, it would be worth sharing--you never know.

It's crazy, and long. Thanks for the information by the way. Yeah, you're right Idown. I'm looking for a way to find contours of maps I've made.

Pretty much, the only way I can envision is to create a water level around the entire map. Then raise it to the specific intervals you want and texture the edges where the water meets land. Save this as a separate file, and when you go into map view it'll give you a contour. I haven't tried it yet, because it's so insanely crazy.
